I have a 1996 rav but I have only one key which turns out to be a sub not a master key you can only program from master keys so at the moment I am looking at either £550 plus vat for a complete set of new locks, ecu - or £350 plus vat for a new barrel ecu and master key - now I could reduced the cost if I know the sequence for programming the master key - I belive it involves turning car on and off etc..... does anyone out think they can help

I wasn't aware that there was a master key on this age of Rav 4.

Mine doesn't have one, the keys are simply programmed to the alarm if I remember right. Which alarm do you have? It will be something like TVSSIII.

My alarm is a scorpion 5000 and separate from the ignigition. It has its own remote fob.

So what are you referring to then? I don't think the Rav 4 has a transponder immobiliser as far as I know, so the keys don't need coding - just cutting.

If it's the alarm fob you are on about, then these aren't a standard fit alarm on the Rav 4, so you may have trouble getting info off here unless someone else has had a Scorpian alarm fitted.

Regards.

I believe they used to fit these alarms to toyota but then the company went bust. It has since reformed and I managed to get extra key fobs added to my alarm system. But there is an immobiliser also on the steering which requires a transponder key. Now if I buy a new barrel and key and ecu for £180 + vat and fit it I still need the sequence to program the New Master key to the ecu.

thanks
