Gearbox Problem?

Does anyone know any signs for a worn out gear box? i race quite a bit on country lanes and i heel and toe quite a bit which should be better for the car and i do match the revs but i aint too sure if i knackered the gear box. it makes a wierd noise in 3rd gear like a grinding sound but aint sure if its wheel bearings which need replacing or the sync mesh. if so anyone know how much to replace the gearbox or sync mesh rings?

btw cars done 30k so its kinda bad if something like gear box ******* up at this stage.

T-sport gearbox on egay £50!!!

if its sync mest it should grind going into gear. i put a new box in mue and knightriders broke at 15000

If its grinding going into the gear, then its the sync. I had this exsact same problem on my old car, a 1999 Fiat Punto Sporting (terrible gearboxes in them). If it is the sync that has gone, its more cost effective to replace the gearbox, unless you are doing it yourself, as replacing the sync with bump up the labour quite a bit.
