Steering Knuckle "boomerang" Arm

Hi, I need to replace the "boomerang" arm on the steering linkage. It looks like someone has tried to weld the press-fit ball joint that fits onto the drag-link arm and the balljoint is now lose. Has anyone done this recently? Can I just separate the boomerang arm from the links at each end, undo the bolts and lift off from ther steering knuckle? Thanks in anticipation of any comments. Paul
