Thinking Of Buying A Rav4 06 (& Have Questions)

Hi All,

This is my first post to the site. I am thinking of buying a Rav4 XT5 Auto (compared it to xTrail & CRV) and have a few questions that I hope you can help me with (this will be my first Toyota).

What is the largest wheel rim size that can be fitted to the 06 model (would like 19 or 20 inch if poss), will this affect the performance, warranty or anything else.

Can I get side steps and bull bars cheaper than the Toyota Style Pack.

How good is the Sat Nav compared to Tom Tom.

Can the Sat Nav DVD be modified to play DVD's to keep the kids happy.

How good is the cruise control.

Will modifications to the rear door (made to open larger) void the warranty.

Is there a web site out there that shows how other people have modified their Rav's

No idea. Standard T180 comes with 18" alloys, which look nicely in proportion to the rest of the car. Be aware that the T180 is on run-flat *wheels* and has no spare. If you managed to get runflat *tyres* to fit 20" rims, the ride would be truly, truly appalling. You'd also look like a pimp, IMHO ;-)

I've only had 24 hours to play with it, but so far I think it's superior to TomTom. Not in all ways, and it's pretty complicated to use, but it's basically very good.

How good is the cruise control.

Errr, well I set it and it didn't speed up or slow down.

Will modifications to the rear door (made to open larger) void the warranty.

Been meaning to ask about that on here. My '06 T180 has a door that opens 90 degrees. In truth, I don't think it'll be able to open further without clashing with the rear lights. I think Toyota might have sorted this out...

Apparently (see nearby thread) the T180 door opens fully because there is no spare wheel on the door to block the lights. So if you get a T180, no mods necessary :-)
