Carina Headlight Replacement

I have a '94 Carina E with a problem headlight - the reflector is loose within the headlight unit and this presents two problems. The first is that because the bulb is mounted in/on the reflector I can't actually push the power connector into place (having replaced the bulb) and so the headlight is dead. The second is that even if I could by some chance manage to connect the power the reflector containing the bulb would still be loose and so the headlight would be bouncing all over the place and wouldn't be safe to use for driving.

What I am trying to find out is whether it is possible to unscrew the headlight itself (yes, presumably) and then disassemble it to remount the reflector and reassemble it again or whether the headlight is designed to be replaced as a unit without being opened.

I had a dig around the web and manuals and couldn't find anything other than replacing the bulb. I also found this site and the usefull post which indicates it is a better idea to remove the Battery when replacing the passenger side headlight.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers,

z
