Hello everyone here

Hope you can help me.........

I've just got hold of an old 10seater Toyota VENTURE. 1995 Japanese import.....I love it........runs great, neds the body patching here and there but not bad otherwise.

I know the person I bought it from...he told me that several cars had the same type engine......as this model I think is rare in U.K.

could anyone out there supply any info that may help me or web adresses for places that may stock spares to suit this rare vehicle.

thanks for all your efforts.

I think these sold in fairly large numbers in Southern Africa. Mainly used as Taxis.

Do you know what model/type of engine it has? It may share the engines from the Estimas and Hi Aces???

Sorry couldn't be much more help...

Welcome to the forum BTW

Would be helpful to know what you engine model number is!! It should be on the engine in big letters somewhere.

After a quick search on google, I have found they did a 1.8 and a 2.2 which is the same as the US celica engine choice which I think is

1.8 = 7AFE

2.2 = 5SFE

Have a look and see if anything matches

Once you find the engine code you will be able to find out a lot more about the engine and what else it was used in.

This page has loads of info on Toyota engines:

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/997...ect/Engine.html

But it only lists three engines which are 2237cc

4Y

4Y-E

4Y-EC

All of which I've never heard of!

The engine I thought it might be (5S-FE) is approx 2163cc so it probably isn't that one.

If it is one of the above then the 4 shows it's a fourth generation engine. I've no idea what the Y means, I think the E means it's Electronic Fuel Injection and the C could be California Spec (they have higher emission laws)

I can't find any reference to any other vehicle using that engine though

The only vehicle which comes up with searches for the same engine is a Toyota Hiace Van, but I can't gaurantee this and it looks like it wasn't in the UK with the engine

  • 1 month later...

just thought Id post this :-

Had a siezed caliper could not find a new one that matched off another model.....so ended up having it reconditioned 95quid.........but what a job they did, looked like new.

managed to look for my shape of brake pad on a site called "Brakeworld electronic catalogue"..(they have printed pictures of brake pads for thousands of cars of all makes) from this I determined that Lite ace pads were the same shape and size.

so chuffed when I purchased them from the info (from the same place that did the recon). They were identical.

The Venture 1800 has the 2Y engine, so I assume the 2200 would have the 4Y engine.

Check on the plates on the bulkhead. It will list the engine type and capacity.

This link has a 4Y engine, which lists some types that use it:

http://www.japparts.com.au/products/4yengine/index.htm

This one lists it as being used in some 4runners as well:

http://www.uniflow.com.au/index.html?lang=...arget=d258.html

If you're wondering, I've got the Venture 1800. :D Trying to find a usable source for

spares at the moment.

Matt
