I fitted a new cv joint to my car, and the cv joint didnt come with a abs ring so i pressed the ring from the old one, fitted it exactly the same, but now when i break at low speeds, i get like a grindy/juddery restistance through the pedal, doesnt do it at higher than like 15 mph speeds, and then if the abs warning light comes on which sometimes it does the grindy ness doesnt happen, do u have to reset abs? any suggestions or thoughts i would be very grateful

Thanks rory

really no idea on this one matey. Did you press the ring on far enough, or too far perhaps. It sounds like that when your applying the brakes, the disc is being drawn in towards the cv joint and fouling the ABS ring.

could be totally the wrong cv joint. Why didnt you just get the abs cv joint ????????

could be also after reading your other post the wheel bearing or hub is shot too. not uncommon when the cv joint snaps

No it was the correct cv joint, but couldnt find any one with a cv and abs ring on it in time, i needed the part then and there, the the wheel bearing casing on the inside of the hub at the back of the disk came out when i dismantled the unit to replace cv should this not happen.

cheers rory

Definately not. the bearing should be very firmly located in the hub. It`s an interference fit. Sounds like the bearing is mullered. If the outer casing of the bearing rotates in the hub then it`s more than likely that you will need a new hub assy :(
