Hey all,

Have been lurking for a week or so and thought I'd intro myself. I'm Kev and my wife is Tracey (both proud Scots NOT from Essex ;) ) and we both enjoy cars and the VW scene. A Ricer is something new for us but the Aygo seems to be very European as they have been a joint project with Peugot/Citroen (wouldn't touch a true French car though ). Wanted something small, light, economical and with some style - she didn't like an Arosa or Lupo so this fits her needs.

I've ordered Trace a new red Aygo as the C1/107 are just big mouthed and ugly (IMO). Don't know if it will be a Plus or Sport as she hasn't made up her mind yet! I had actually planned on buying a demo 5-dr Sport that was for sale at £7000 but it was sold and then they offered me a new PLUS for the same price and thought that was a bit of a result. So for now the PLUS is on order but we can change to a SPORT by Friday 28th if we want.

Tracey, currently has a yellow Beetle with custom leather interior, rear wing, tints, lower, 18's, Phatnoise (In-car MP3), induction kit etc etc etc. So we have to decide at a plus for £7K or Sport for £7400. Either way there will be mods almost immediately which may include 15" rims, tints, graphics, interior work so what just need to get her to make her mind up.

So that's a wee bit about us and I'll let you know when we get the Aygo (due 10 May) then it's on with the changes (30Gb I-Pod, Private plate, I-Pod cable, and glove box lid already bought).

Hi Kev,

Can I ask what part of Scotland you were offered the deal? Did the price on offer include any extras, specifically metallic paint?

My other car is a VW (mkV Golf 1.6SE). My wife and I share it but a career change for me is forcing us into a second car. Really like the look of the Aygo, fuel economy, insurance costs etc.

Kenl - It was Western Toyota in Dunfermline. The car is a Red Aygo Plus basically standard. Have a look on Autotrader if you want a second hand Sport for that money as there were a few but no red and that's what Tracey specifically wanted so in an ironic sort of way I've ended up paying a bit more for her wanting that colour.

Blue 84 - No offence intended but having had 20 years of the Kev and Trace jokes they do wear a bit thin. :)

Also actually confirmed that we are getting a Sport now to be delivered about 17 May and it will wear

I like the red but worried about living with it for a long time as it is sooooooooooo bright. Would probably go for silver or charcoal.

I trust you are not going to be chavvy with your number plate and illegally space the letters like that :D

Hey come on guys, I never said anything wrong about Essex just that even after 20 years I still get the Kev n Trace jokes that were typically classed as Essex names. I've never been to Essex so can't comment on it.

kenl, it is bright red but that's what Tracey likes as she wants to be noticed and there are so many silver cars on the road it can make the Aygo a bit bland. For us the red is not so bright as what she drives now see pics. I let her have any colour she wants except PINK as I drive the car two work a couple of times a week as my car only does about 20mpg and it's 35 miles each way.

I really wanted to get her a Carbon Quartz one with the Custom Hide option in Red leather. But there is a 3 month wait on that so will look at getting some aftermarket leather done later - this is what we did with the Beetle and the leather is much better than what manufacturers use (the company I use supplies Toyota so I have seen a direct comparison). As for the plate letter spacing ? well.... erm.... of course not officer ! ;)

I thought it was Bev n Kev, not Kev n Trace.... although weren't they the couple in Birds of a Feather??
