Lambda Sensor

Special Red

My car regularly does 240 miles on £40 (approx 92p Litre) If I dont have a heavy right foot, but as far as Im concerned it should do more. When I give it some for any length of time its returning 190 Miles to £40!!!! Any GT owners get similar or more?

I have an 1800 mile trip in the next two weeks and am wondering if spending a bit of money on a new sensor will pay for itself by adding more MPG! Any cheaper places anyone can recommend to buy from other than Mr T.

I need you guys as the more people who respond the better idea I have got more of an idea on whether its the sensor or it's just normal.

PS I would have done a search but the search button does not seem to work for me!!

That's about 25mpg, which isn't wide of the mark really. Ultimately it's down to your driving style, journey type and the ambient temperature. I think that if the lambda sensor is shot, you'd be talking about worse than 20 mpg.

my GT is in very good condition, and the returns around town, about 25 miles for a fiver of juice. It does seem to be quite a thirstyl car, although if you drive like a 1.0 fiesta lol, it does return more, not much though

Thanks Mike - Reckon I will leave my sensor as It seems to be OK judging from what you and others have said.

Im gonna try using optimax for my trip so I would of thought after doing 1800 miles I should notice if it makes any difference in MPG and Perormance.

if it would put your mind at rest it may be worth seeing a a quiet MOT tester will do a gas test for you.

If it turns out you need a new lambda - I've got a spare one to sell.
