Take 2 Botles Into The Shower?

Hey all, seem to be in a thread creating mood this week. i've just bought some new bottles of stuff for "the beast" and thought about creating a thread about it. basically everyone on here uses something or other on their car, so i figured what better place for someone to come and see what's best for the job?

e.g

For removing scratches, and blemishes (fly blood, bird poo)T-Cut colour coded polish type stuff- 10/10 much better than normal t-cut, goes on easy, and comes off like a dream, no more buffing away like crazy, hides the scrathes and unlike normal t-cut also polishes the area and leaves it lovely and shiney.

Car shampoo/washing "Flash" car washer 10/10- you've seen it on the adverts with that bloke and the lamborghini. i bought this last summer and used it ever since. not sure whether it the shampoo or the system but it cuts through dirt and cleans the car superbly. never seen so much dirt on my sponge before. and the auto dry feature is ace.

that kind of thing. if this is a pants thread let me know, i just thought it might be useful for people trying new things or unsure which one is best. there just seems to be too much choice now!

I use TurtleWax to wash and have Meguiars Gold Class Wax, Swirl X Scratch Remover, Autoglym Window Cleaner & tyre dressing and whatever else is currently in the garage.... I plan to give her the full kit n kaboodle for JAE! ;)

Wouldnt say a totally pants thread though, I dont care if anyone uses the same as me or not and I'm certainly not about to try and persuade otherwise, but it works for me!

i didnt mean this to be a use this or else thread, just some info for people bamboozled by all the different products out there. it's fair to say that if ppl on here are using it then it must be some cop. i know there's shed loads of stuff in my garage i bought and never used again.

To be honest, all of these colour-coded polishes look crap after a couple of days. Most cars have a clear coat, or lacquer, as a top coat so all you're doing is putting something coloured on top of something that's clear. It will look good right after, but as soon as the paint picks up any dirt etc then the finish will look rubbish. The guy we bought our RAV from must have used most of a bottle of blue polish in an attempt to buff out / colour in the extensive light scratches. Didn't work at all, it never does.

If i'm getting rid of scratches the I use (in order of severity, finest to coubikst);

Autoglym paint renovator

T-Cut

Farecla G3

Farecla G6

Wet & Dry 1200 grade (used wet, very very wet) - with G6 / G3 after

For shampoo then whatever 'decent' brand Halfords has cheap.

For polish I've used Autoglym, Mer and will get around to trying Meguairs once the Mer has ran out. I rate them all pretty much equal so far.

Hello All

I'm a newbie who enjoys cleaning my car!!!!!

I would just like to add I too rate Atoglym, however I went to Tesco a while ago to pick up some alloy cleaner (Autoglym) and they were out so I picked up Tesco's own brand (only because it was for a friends Daewoo and I didn't want to have to go to Halfords and pay over the odds) and I must say for the price I was quite pleased, must have been about £2 to £3.

Autoglym though for the real tough and dirty of alloys that have been neglected. And shame on you if you doo neglect them!

Megeuirs stuff really rocks. Their cleaning and restoring products the best ive used and Ive used alot. The sfx-1 has removed all paint chips/scratches and scuffs with a bit of elbow greese. And their 3 range of polishes gives a shine I can equate to what you would see in pictures in glossy car mags/shows. Best stuff around in my opinion. No I dont work for them r get kick backs :D

I totally agree that "Megs" is the best around for a reasonable price. I use Megs Gold Class Shampoo

Method

Pick a day that has no sun (easy in the UK)

Spray the car with copius amounts of cold water (not High pressure)

Fill bucket with 4 litres of Warm Water and add 2 capfulls of Megs, Gold class. Shampoo'

Fill another bucket with clean cold water and if you have one put the Meg, scraper in the water

Apply the shampoo with a sheepskin mitt, cleaning the mitt each time you want more shampoo on the scraper

wash the car top down to the middle door line and then take a soft bristle brush to apply shamoo down to the sill line.

Then take another brush and shampoo the sills and lastly each wheel seperatly.

Spray the car with the cold water hose in a manner which looks like rain falling.

Dry off the car by using a good quality towels and and using good quality synthetic cloths keep going around the car untill the car is dry.

Polishing is the next step

Regards

Very good advice!! Farecla G3 and Farecla G6 are the best for restoring shine and scratch removers. I use the same but instead of T-Cut i use "Autoglym Super Resin Polish" and then finish with 2 coats of "Meguiars NXT Tech Wax"

My Dream Team for paintwork!! :artist:

Electric Buffers are the way to go....best off just using Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Farecla G3 with the electric buffer(BE CAREFUL)
