Hi,

I've just returned to Belfast from a visit to relatives in and around York, and I've covered about 600 miles in the process!!!

A lot of the travelling was on dual-carriageways and motorway, but there was plenty in and around village locations too.

However, I reckon that I've averaged at least 150 miles to the £10..... 5th gear helped a lot with that... but I've had a load of luggage and 3 passengers for quite a bit of the time.

I was well chuffed with the easy handling, especially getting on and off the ferry.

I took enough luggage for a month even though I only went for a week, and fitted it in ok :)

Also... I didn't find the drive anywhere near as tiring as I expected it to be, and it whipped up to 75mph very easily for a lot of the time, with plenty to spare, and the cornering is excellent for a taller car.

A couple of observations...........

I think that the fuel tank must be wide and shallow (not checked), because I found that even when it was about a third full (maybe a bit less); if you put the pump filler-nozzle in too far, it cuts off the flow straight away.

Also.... the only slight disadvantage of the good ground clearance, was that it skipped about quite a bit on the way home, because of quite strong crosswinds. But as long as I was aware of that, it was easy enough to adjust my driving.

All in all.... brill!!

Anyone else got anything to share about a long journey in an Aygo?

Cheers,

Raggy :)

Sounds like you had a good time and th Aygo was a worthy ride. It's just another one of those thinsg that makes the Aygo such a great "real-life" car and adds to the notion that you take so-called professional reviews with a pinch of salt.

Now if only other manufacturers got on the "light weight is good" band wagon and use some genuine innovations in their design then we would have a much better time whatever we drove :)

I have noticed that as it happens.

Aye up! You are on the ball about the tank, I had n't given it a thought, just pulling the nozzle out a notch unconsciously, would say its narrow and shallow though ;) , but now even this motor is costing over £30 to fill :ffs: but I get at least 350miles :) .

Glad you had a nice trip and you're still motoring  , here is a pic from North Yorkshire (about a month old though, today its sunny again, which I find a bit unnerving  ), Irish friend though says "countryside round here is just like Ireland"

You are right about the ground clearance  know way am I lowering the car with those drystone walls about, and the damping is pretty well controlled on rebound over the humps. Changes direction going up the other side of the hill as well which has an average of 1:5 its a bit steeper on the bend because of the camber, I have noticed that when cycling

This should help you decide if what you are saying about the fuel tank is true.

The first day i got my Aygo I drove to London. I probabley covered about 135 miles that night and didnt really have any problems at all.

Due to the car being so small i found it incredibley easy to nip in and out of traffic, dodging buses etc... Thats why its such a good car, i have 3 ppl with me, and it still went, and no one complained about the leg room. Also the petrol gage didnt move! :D

Another long trip was to pick up some of my mates stuff from Croyden 50 miles each way. We came back with a 28" TV, a massive blakc bag full of clothes, about 4 boxes of DVD, a Playstation + games, a duvet cover, and a stereo oh yeah and a Poster size photo frame, was unreal, I should have taken photos.

But the car still moved and we got back comfortably.

I took mine for five days over to France camping last September. I even drove through the centre of Paris. I was very impressed by the amount of luggage it swallowed and the economy it returned. You don't really need any more of a car.

Hi all, :)

Thanks for the feedback.... just reinforces what a good choice the Aygo is.

"Peugeot 107"...... I've noticed the similarities between the countryside in Yorkshire and Ireland.... been here 5 years.

Moving back to York area in a couple of months, though.

Cheers,

Raggy :)
