Just asked the insurers (HIC brokers - Highway) what my quote would drop to if I changed from the 2.0 Beetle to the Aygo Sport. They said I would get no refund even though there is over 5 months left on the exsiting policy :ffs: The Beetle, group 8 is £359 all inc fully comp with legal cover and £150 xs and they said the basic Aygo, group 1, would be £295 ! Go figure ????

Had a quick check on Confused.com and got Auto Direct at £192 fully comp inc legal and £150 xs. TBH most came in around the £200 to £220.

I live 30 miles outside Edinburgh in Fife, am 38 yo, 20 odd years NCB and work for a bank.

My S3 is is pretty mod'd (std power 225bhp but mines has over 330bhp with uprated suspension and brakes to match and I only pay £400 for that  )

So guys and babes what are you paying for yours ?

cheers for that as they quoted £170 so that's another £20 saved :D Could have shopped around a bit more and maybe saved a tenner but needed to get the cover note ASAP as the dealer needs it early to organise the private plate.

When you want to reclaim money from a cancelled policy the amount is usually graduated down to zero with usually 4 months left. Yours may be graduated with 6 or 5 months remaining! Check the policy T&Cs.

If I cancel just now then I would get £120 back but understand what your saying. Insurance is just a way of printing money anyway as they tend to try anything they can to reduce any payout or refuse a claim. :censor:

Got something sorted now so can get on with getting the Aygo registered with it's T1 4YGO plate for Trace. :)

HIC are one of many brokers we use ;) I think it's to do with how long is left on the policy TBH - when you get your renewal notice through, our underwriters issue these to the broker a month before the policy expires it will have all of the new vehicle details on it obviously and will be much cheaper :D Confused.com brought up auto direct who I believe are another broker aswell.

Just got my renewal from Tesco - £302.40!!! ...........£148 more than TSB! The excess is lower (£100) with TSB as well. It's also cheaper than the Corsa I insured with Tesco.
