Questions About Test Drive

So I test drove the Celica GT I've been looking at last night. The looks immaculate, but it was a bit of a different story on the road.

Major issue I had was, with the car in 3rd gear, if you held the gear stick forward slightly when you drove, it was pushing back into your hand by about 3/4 to an inch, in a pulsing way.

The suspension was a bit creaky and loud, and the brake pedal was pulsing slightly under my foot.

Some of this may be normal, but I didnt think so, and I wanted to check. The car has just had a new clutch as well, to my mind it sounds like the car has been raked about in 3rd, needed a new clutch, which explains creaky suspension and crap brakes if the car's been hammered. It's also got flashy 17" alloys so that stays consistent with that theory.

What do educated celica owners think?

IMHO i`d keep looking. It`s not a good sign if you have doubts. The gear lever shouldn`t move as it`s remote from the g/box. It`s connected to the gearbox by cables not rods (Unless they changed it on the gen 6) The brakes sound as if the discs may be warped. And certainly sounds as if a few suspension bushes are on their way out.

I suspect your suspicions of it having had the @rse ragged off it may be correct. Whats the mileage? A GT should be good for around 100K before the clutch needs doing. Keep searching matey. The right one is out there somewhere.

Sounds like a shed to me, better off looking elsewhere.

What you looking at? UK? JDM? What kinda budget? Age? Mileage?

A celica should drive perfect , if not walk away . There's all ways more to look at !
