Double Din > Single Din

Ok, so about a month ago i got my new stereo (single din) and came to fit it. Taking the stock double din stereo out of my Gen6, took off the original fixing brackets, and attached them to my new head unit. Now, naturally, there was a single din sized hole underneath, so i got this:

http://thebassbin.co.uk/shop/product/products_id/382.html

However, there are no fixing holes on the existing brackets to screw this on underneath the single din headunit :ffs:. Questions:

1. How did you fit yours? I have the SR celica, which you get a Sony double din stereo as standard. Do i need to get hold of some different fixing brackets?

2. If i do need some fixing brackets, where do i get them (mr t?) :)

Thanks,

jack

either drill out the holes to suit or buy new brakets from mr.t , no idea of cost - maybe 10 quid the pair.

ah! went down toyota today, and the guy there is looking for me but didnt seem too sure on it. If you could ask your dad the part number, that would be awesome :)

So the ones you got for Gt4 allowed you to screw in a single din and a blanking plate/pocket without a problem? (same pockets as I have that i linked above?)

thanks for reply, very helpful

the ones in my four let me do this fine, the toyota head unit was double din but acutally two parts the tape and radio where in the lower section and then the CD player was on top and had a cable at the back plugging it into the bottem bit. Both sections were screwed into the brackets as though it was 2 din units.

Got the same autoleads pocket as you and the mounts lined up just right.

This is something i knocked up. its a diagram of what my brackets look like. Left is the front of the head units facing the car. My original headunit in the SR was a quite nice Sony unit, one compete system (obviously the brackets are designed for this unit), unlike yours which is split in two.

So, it seams i need exactly what you are describing. if anyone could find out the part numbers or dig up a picture of the ones i need that would be very helpful!
