Avensis 1.6

Can someone if the avensis 1.6 vtti???? engine uses a camchain or belt, also general thoughts on this car as i am going to look at one soon?

It will be chain driven. Only major problem that might arise is the engine burning oil, if it's a cheap, smooth reliable car your after then go for the earlier car with a 4A-FE 1.6 or 7A-FE 1.8 pre VVTi cars to be on the safe side, if it's from a dealer where there's a warranty then a VVTi is fine because the engine should be covered.

To be honest i'd say go for 1.8 vvt-i has the 1.6 can feel under powered but the early vvt-i's where known to burn oil. Has james said to be safe go for for a late lean burn 1.8 40+ mpg, again the 1.6 4a-fe can feel underpowerd at times. If its a late model avensis made after 2002 the engine should be fine.
