Paseo Alarm Problems..... I Look Like I've Stolen My Own Car... He

Hi folks

I went to get in my car 2 days ago and the key fob wouldn't open the doors. Strange i thought. I opened the car with the key and the alarm went off as expected.

I put a new Battery in the fob and the fob definately works. I got an rac guy out with his fob tester to check.

He suggested removing the Battery on the car and i did that and let for half hour in the hope it will reset.

I've removed the connector block on the siren so it doesn't make a noise but the indicators flash for a few minutes once i'm in.

Its doing my head in as i was trying to sell the damn thing. Typical it happens at this time.

Can anyone suggest anything to help?

I think i've bought a lazy car. Last year the engine went bang big style and i had to put a new engine in it now the !Removed! alarm doesn't want to let me in my car.

I think its a standard toyota alarm. Black siren with a green grill? Key fob has toyota Badge on it. 97 paseo ST.

Please help asap? :help::help::crybaby::crybaby::help::help:

The exact same thing has happened to me.

Still havent found a cure, BUT the indicators do stop flashing on entry after a little while.

Yeah, sometimes the door open light indicates its open long after the door is shut and i've found if you open the bonnet it goes of striaght away.

I'm gonna remove all the sensors and test they work properly with a multimeter. Might be just one of those playing up.

I seem to remeber the key fob appeared not to work if one of the doors appeared open. So i'm guessing one of the sensors (probably drivers side) is not conducting properly. So it'll either be strip clean and rebuild or i'll just make the connections passive so it always appears shut. I bet a new sensor would cost a fortune!!!

Hmm - seems to be a general problem with paseo's.

TBH i swapped over my alarm for a laserline system so never had any trouble.

i hope your right and i only need to swap a Battery.

do you think its worth calling toyota tomorrow to see if they'll offer advice over the phone?

No harm in trying mate...

also rather than just leaving the main Battery disconnected - try disconnecting it & pressing the brakes a couple of times - to drain any residual power in the system.

Also try the same with the key fob.

Righto

spoke to toyota chap down at local dealer

Make sure all fuses are good then reconnect siren if like me you unplugged it.

Remove Battery from key fob and press both buttons together. Keep them pressed in for 15seconds. Do this next to car.

Replace Battery and cover on fob then press both buttons for 15 seconds. Then top button nearest red light 4 times.

Hopefully you've just reprogrammed your key fob and curred it. The fobs somehow forget the code.

If it doesn't work then Toyota will remove the alarm system for £70.

They dont make new fobs and they dont make alarm ecus anymore so if its <I thought I could get past the swearing filter - what a sad muppet I am eh?>ed only option is get an aftermarket alarm or remove it.

Hope that helps folk.

I'll be trying this method just soon as it stops raining.
