Ok now I have had my car 5 weeks I see your point about the wipers. The rear one is useless and the front one does leave lines on its return to baulk.

I have forgotten what people suggested to do from the posts ages ago so has anyone changed their rear wiper more importantly, for a longer one and what one?

Posted

Changed mine for Bosch 26'' front and 16'' rear.

The rear is a bit big and doesn't clear the last top bit of the sweep of the glass but I prefer it.

Got both from (I think) wiperblades.co.uk - cheap and reliable service.

Slightly off topic..................just changed mine on the Yaris.

Bosch from www.wiperblades.co.uk.....................excellent service at the right price, delivered within 24 hours

On my Honda I have the PIAA Silicon Wiper Blades, not the cheapest but they work fantastically!

They also leave a thin layer of silicon on the windscreen so when you are driving down faster roads in the rain you don't actually have to use he wipers as the water runs straight off.

Cheers Mr Mojo ! I've ordered a PIAA one with spoiler for Traceys Aygo as there's no point keeping the original when it leaves lines. Have other ideas I want to check out for the rear one before doing anything with that.

Also Tracey nipped into the dealer today and handed him £7500 in £20s - should have seen his face :ffs:

Mainly because he has to count it 3 times  before giving her a receipt. :D

Didn't think they were allowed to have all that cash on site, otherwise I would have paid more of it iin cash.

Yeh, she phoned ahead and they said it would be fine. The salesman we were dealing with was on his day off so his manager dealt with it. Trace is all excited about her new Sport and the first thing we will do is drive it from the garage to the window tinting place. Will sort out some photos once I have done a few other bits and bobs as we all know what a standard red Sport looks like. The garage are also putting on the private plates too (with the dodgy spacing so it looks like AYGO) B)

Ah tints next on my list - look forward to pics.

I tried to fit the PIAA 26" blade yesterday but it wouldn't fit :crybaby:

How ? Well I got the carbon firbe effect one with the spoiler fitted and as the Aygo has the double arm arrangement the arm touches the wiper spoiler. Well a quick trim with my dremel and all was okay. If I get a chance to take pics then I'll show you what I mean. If it had came down to it I could have removed the wiper spoiler as it only uses two small torq screws. Anyway now all works fine and I can be confirdent of seeing the road in the rain :)

I know this is an old topic, but I'd hate to make yet another topic on wipers...

Today I got a 14" rear wiper blade for my Aygo, but it won't fit!

The plastic arm is too big to fit the hole where the blade pivots on the arm.

If I DO get it on, only the "inner/lower" 2" or so of the blade touch the glass

as the pivt-point can't really move (hope anyone understands)...

Now I know I can cut the hole in the blade-thingie larger wit a dremel, but I

was wondering if it might just be because of me using a "generic" branded

blade and if the Bosch ones (at 3 times the price) won't have this problem...

Another thing that I noticed is that even though the Aygo has been for sale for over a year now,

it still does NOT show up in any of the wiper-reference-books I've seen so far...

Ah, this reminds me to get a new blade for my Aygo. The standard one isn't cutting the mustard in the current weather...

Sorted. Got the 26" Bosch as recommended above. I love online shops that use Paypal. Checkout is so fast and simple :)

It's the original PSA one, that is glued and not drilled trough the roof as is the Toyota one.

The Toyota spoiler fots on the PSA cars, but I'm not sure if the PSA one fits the Toy

This spoiler does NOT fit the Aygo, as the distance

between the hinges of the bootlid is different...

26'' front (only 1 of course) and anything up to 16'' for the rear

Any brands in particular that can be recommended???

As I wrote earlier; I got a generic 14" for the rear and it won't fit

because of the size ad shape of the clip on the rear wiper arm :(

I got Bosch SP16 for the rear - perfect fit - from wiperblades.co.uk - cost about a fiver.

Cheers I got a Bosch 26" and its so much better than other, start my new commute to work on tuesday and feel much happier now I know I will be able to see..lol...havent sorted the back one yet but that will come, think I will go for one suggested below, and fit it myself, think Halfords guy was having me on when he was arsing around with front one....I did also by carbon effect hub cups which were nice but dont match the ice blue so gonna go get some chrome sporty hub caps (just until I can afford the alloys..lol)

anyone want the old ones?

Cheers

Another solution is something called Rain-ex (i think) its from Halfords and costs under £10.

If you put it on your windows, its a cler thin liquid, the rain drops run straight off the windows, its great, hardly need to use wipers at all!
