U guys must get sick of my posts about suspension....

anyways, the steering on my car feels strange when cornering, very light in feeling. It doesnt feel very sharp, round the twistys. The car has been lowered and shocks replaced with gas shocks. Are there any areas of the front suspension to check for ware ie bushes etc.. Also could the steering rack or any of its components being causing this feeling?

( sorry about the vagueness of this post, but anything suggested is appreicated)

also i seem to be hearing a high pitched noise, not very louse , when my car is getting low on fuel , from the 1/4 tank mark. If i take the pertrol cap off the noise goes... is there a breather pipe for the fuel round there?.....again any suggestions

and lastly, the car seems to be taking a lot longer to rev from 1K to say 5K, it is smooth but slowler, any suggestions about this, i have cleaned the idle control up, the sensor which goes to the airbox has recently been cracked,,,, could this be giving these symptons

phewww, any feedback on this is welcomed

the car a 91 celica gt,

Have you had the steering geometry checked. Tracking, Camber and castor angles should all be checked if the suspension has been apart. Lowering the car will definately affect the camber angles, which will wear tyres fast. and affect how the car steers.

The high pitched noise is air entering the tank to equalise presure. Think there is a breater pipe somewhere, but not too sure where. Sorry.

Not sure about the last bit at all, so i won`t comment. :)

Yep.. deffinatley get a full global geometric check done (don't mistake this for tracking/wheel allignment, as this will set the car to the standard set up.. and as you have changed the suspension, the standard settings won't apply), this will affect the steering in many ways.. light/heavy.. sharp one way but not the other etc.

Also, if the car is lowered quite a bit (maybe 40mm or more) it might be a good idea to get an uprated rear anti-roll bar, this will help keep the front (yes, the front) end of the car level when cornering as it will decrease any bodyroll and will eliminate a little understeer and may even encourage oversteer.
