Haed Gaskett Gone?

just got to work this morning, got out the car and loads of smoke billowed out of the engine, popped the hood and smoke coming from behind radiator. Then oil leaked all over the floor. spoke to recovery and they're on their way but reckon it sounds like a head gaskett? what's the normal cost assocaited with this? It's a gen 5 gti-16.

Sorry to haer of your problem :(

I think a typical cost for a new head gasket is from £700 ( ouch ! ), but that depends if anything else needs to be done. Usually the head needs to be skimmed because it has warped !!

Thanks guys, luckily studying it more now the smoke has cleared it looks like it's the radiator, as the liquid has dried up and doesn't look like oil anymore, plus checked the level in the radiator and it's dry. Just hope it hasn't done too much damage....

was fine a few eeeks back...

time to move on and get a new motor me thinks...
