Looks a bit daft to be honest, especially being that low with the expanse of metal, if Toyota wern't so concerned about cost cutting these days we would have proper large Coupe's like the Camry Solara imported over here which do look very nice.

Cooue versions of family saloons not a viable market these days, hence no Calibra, Probe, etc. Buyers prefer to buy prestige brand cars instead (Audi, BMW, etc).

I don't share you liking for the Camry Solara, but even if I did it would not makes sense to import the car as we don't even sell the Camry (no one bought it here).

As for being concerned for cost cutting... you are very right, Toyoat is obsessed and brilliant at it. That is why Toyota has the profit to invest in new models and technologies (and pensions!) while others are on the verge of going bust.

The opposite of cost cutting - or proper management - is ever increasing costs and that leads to increased prices and no investment. Any business not concerned with cutting costs has a short future.
