Its a Stage III t3/t4 from xspower. I got lucky on a no reserve auction and got it for £410. brand new. 1year warranty

Claim its capable of 500bhp but i doubt it is, and besides, i want to run 400bhp max.

:D

You will have to write to father christmas and ask nicely :P

Was that for the whole XS power kit? DP as well? Excellent price. Bit of a bargain. Well done.

Is there much advantage to using that turbo on a stock bottom end? I mean, the pistons restrict usable boost to <1.2 bar don't they, and the stock turbo is happy at that level. Does this one spool quicker or something? Is it a dual ball bearing jobbie?

The standard turbo cannot run more than 1.2 bar but this bigger turbo can run higher than that on standard internals. i dont really understand the technical side of things much but its something to do with it being able to blow more cool air in. the reason you cant run over 1.2 bar on the standard turbo is it is not efficient and starts blowing in hot air... bad for charge temps and engine. i got all the advice from the gt4oc people. :)

even at 1.2 bar the standard turbo doesnt seem happy.

for £410 i got:

-turbo

-downpipe

-external wastegate

-st205 manifold adaptor (but they sent the whole manifold by mistake  )

-Dump valve

-Turbo accesorise kit

I thought i got a bargain :D i bid a few hundred more than 410 aswell :P

Ive already tried out the new Dump valve. Very strange, loud noise... but i like it. I have 3 dump valves now :P lol

I know the CT20 struggles a bit at 1.2 BAR and above. The T4 was one of the options i was looking into but apparently it`s a bit laggy. T3/4 seems a good compromise. I`ll be very interested to see how it performs. You`ll have to keep us up to date Adam. TBH i`d be a little concerned going more than 300-350 on standard internals for any length of time.

I am going have it setup at around 360bhp i think. Ive heard on gt4oc you can run over 400 but i just want to keep it safe :)

Worst comes to the worst i have to have the forged rebuild in the end :D

then i put the turbo upto full boost

Adam, that four of yours is gonna be one nice peice of kit once you get it all sorted. Just make sure when you get it mapped to aire on the side of caution with regard to knock and you should be ok on the stock pistons up to around 360. On the other hand if it all goes !Removed! up and throws a wabbily don't blame me :P

even at 1.2 bar the standard turbo doesnt seem happy.

1.2bar is pretty much the limit for the stock turbo, it's all about the effeciency island on the turbo map.

At 1.2 bar the CT20 is right on the edge some people have run it at 1.3 but your risking things and have to have a mappable ecu and WI for it to run anywhere near safe intake temp. Also on the jdm ceramic turbo you'll be risking shattering the blades/splitting the shaft at that pressure due to overspeeding. Not as much of a problem on the UK one as it's all steel but will still be acting more like a hair dryer than a turbo  .

Basically every turbo is designed with a operating range in mind with referance to pressure and air flow volume, in the case of the CT20 thats between about 0.8bar and 1.2 bar for the 3s-gte 2l, toyota got it pretty bang on for a standard engine :D , outside these ranges the turbo is laggy at the low end and starts increasing charge temp at the high end.

Any hybrid design for the 3s-gte will firstly be able to effeiciently handle higher boost pressures than the stock turbo, and secondly be creating cooler charge at standard pressures again due to being more efficient. As a result you'll be able to add more fuel due to cooler charge temps and hence get more power at the same pressure from a hybird than from the stock turbo.

:D Thats what im hoping. I have my Apexi power fc coming in the next few days and have got my 800cc injectors. Just need to order fuel pump and Aussie exhaust flexi section (but im thinking about buying the xs-power FULL 3" exhaust system that is coming out any time now)

Once set up i will then get it in the bodyshop for the TRD kit to go on.... and then go to loads of jap shows this summer :D B)

Only possible things on the list after all this are:

-projector lights

-Bucket seats

Thats a bargain!!! and it should be a weapon when its up and running.

I bet a bit of water gets in through that vent, no good for Mancunians with all the rain we get!

Random Question - do you live at your parents????

Yeah water does get in but i heard on gt4oc there are no problems with it. Although im not sure its good for that new dump valve thats acting like a funnel  and when the DV goes off in the rain it looks like a nitrous purge coming out my bonnet vent :P

No dont live with my parents. I live in MY house with my GF, and little sis at the moment.....here:
