How many of you know that the last little section of the fuel gauge flashes faster the more fuel you use. But was wondering how far any of you have gone in making it flash faster?

Posted

dont like to push it so far! only went for about 7-10 extra miles after it started flashing! and yes it start to flash faster the more you drive!

I usually just fuel up as soon as the fuel gauge start flashing. Haven't dared to try how far one could go without runing out of fuel, but have often wondered how far would be possible. :P

i guess that sometime it will start to flash so fast.. that you'll have to go by foot! ehehe... :x

So the Aygo tank takes 40 litres?

Posted

Just short of 40 litres i think

We picked Traceys Aygo up yesterday with 9 miles on the clock and a full tank. Drove it around and I noticed today that the gauge still showed all the bars until 88 miles on the clock - and it's not as if I've not driven it pretty quickly (kept under 5k revs) and all about town too  I couldn't help laugh the further I went with no change in the gauge. My S3 would have used around 4 gallons by then as it averages 22mpg :o I can live with that as it has 5 times the Aygos power :D Still love the little Aygo though as it's so much fun.

Ironic after starting this post that today I should run out of fuel. Lucky I had just dropped of my mates to their car so they were only round the corner to rescue me. I was going on what Pug Bug said about it flashing so fast it was almost solid, but it wasn't flashing that fast in mine (though I had been driving it for a few days flashing!)

Hi Kev,

Is Tracey goin to drive it herself once? Come on, give her a chance!

By the way, when the engine is new, the revs is not the problem, it's the torque.

The more revs the less force on the bearings at the same power and with more revs better lubrication.

So be carefull with the accelerator, but let it spin and purr!

Cheers

(The Aygo is mine, my wife is driving the Zafira and very soon she going to drive the Verso TR, which is called Verso Dynamic here in the Netherlands)

Oh yeh, maybe I should give her a go as it is her car  We both done around 120 miles in it now and both really like the little Aygo a lot. Gotta sell the Beetle now - Anyone want a mint New Beetle with custom leather, lowered and 18s ??? ;)

Tried out the variable flashing thing out yesterday for the first time, to be honest I had n't noticed until pointed out to me, so think its bit of a dumb idea as the difference in speeds does n't seem that different, probably a better idea if the blinker just disappeared, or they made one that did n't need filling up. :D

I was kidding about it flashing so fast it became solid, i was just making the point that by filling up with 37.4 litres i was living on the edge.

Posted

we did 45 miles with it flashing yesterday, and then when we stopped to fill up, it only took 35 litres. I assume it's a 40 litre tank, if so, I reckon we could have got another 20-30 miles at least out of it.
