i hear i can get an extra couple or so miles from my fez when empty  , only let it go empty once(according to gauge), but sitting at traffic lights i got a bar back .

anyone who seen the dash of a mk6 fiesta you will see it has a bar gauge and 2 little squares at the bottom, yellow light comes on when just 1 sqaure left  .

EDIT:

if you drive above 3000rpm your fuel will be effected more and if you dont use the right gears

My MX-5 is really pessimistic. When the needle points to empty, I start planning where my next tank will come from, but I'll risk a trip to and from work which is a 25 mile round trip and uses 5 litres. At this point the needle will be off the bottom of the gauge, and clear of the E mark entirely. As you can see here; http://www.pbase.com/actaeon/image/34641521, it's a long way past empty! I filled it up at 1/8th tank once, and it only took £25 instead of £35. £25 just to drive to work in a week. I need my 107.

its because youve turbo's your 5 :P , tho the standard form isnt great either, but better than turbo

something very strange happeneed when i filled up the other day, after i left the pump it was still flashing on the last bar, i was like wtf, the petrol must have leaked out or something, then after about 20mins driving, more bars appeared, was very strange. im guessing the sensor in the tank got jammed or something so fuel needed sloshing about to solve it.

has done that to me before if you only put in a small amount of petrol. like a 5er is meant to be about a bar but it doesnt come up for a few mins into driving.

Me too, bar was flashing fast, put 5 litres in at Samlesbury when it was blinking speedy, fuel indicator (calling it a gauge seems too kind ) did n't change 'til I got to Pendle Hill, spooky round there

I've had over 200 miles before the first light goes out, but the last three lights go out fairly quickly.

We picked Traceys Aygo up yesterday with 9 miles on the clock and a full tank. Drove it around and I noticed today that the gauge still showed all the bars until 88 miles on the clock - and it's not as if I've not driven it pretty quickly (kept under 5k revs) and all about town too  I couldn't help laugh the further I went with no change in the gauge. My S3 would have used around 4 gallons by then as it averages 22mpg :o I can live with that as it has 5 times the Aygos power :D Still love the little Aygo though as it's so much fun.

well that was annoying, was on my way home (west london) from swansea, was certain i'd make it by the time the last light started flashing. Somehow I misjudged and ran out of petrol about 8 miles from home. I'm certain I only got 20 (25 at most) miles out of the last bar. Wasn't even flashing that fast. Just suddenly lost power in the fast lane....luckily wasn't too busy to I coasted to the hard shoulder. No warning lights flashed either until I stopped. :censor:

Does it say anywhere in the literature that each bar is the same amount of fuel or each bar represents a smaller amount as it goes down?

Fairly annoyed by it, although on the plus side I got to try out the RAC cover that came with my Aygo, who we're more than excellent. Got to me in about 20 minutes after being told it could be about 45, and the chap was very friendly. Awesome.

I find I am getting to 300 miles with three bars left, maybe a bit further but I filled up.

I'm getting 56mpg and it isn't even run in yet. Can't complain about that

I seem to be getting around 400 miles max out of the full tank (air-con on most of the time). Don't know if this is good. It is compared to my last car a SEAT Leon Cupra (around 330 miles out of a 55l tank).

Wow, you guys are lucky!

Mine only gives me around 300/320 miles on a full tank. Never left the last bar flashing a lot though. Since I got it last July 6th, I've filled it up 3 times up to today. The first time I filled it the first bar went off after 90 miles. I thought that was okay. Now, the second and third filling up, it went after around 70/75miles. The aircon is on full blast most of the time, especially in the afternoon. Temperature here is around 32 -36 most of the time during the summer.

The problem here in Malta is the short distances, I drive about 6 miles to go to work, and the amount of traffice is incredible. There are over 250 000 vehicles on an island 17x9 miles and about 400 000 population. So the stop and go in the morning gives your clutch foot RSI just to get to work (that's why I got my Aygo with MMT).

My previous car was a 1992 Vauxhall Nova Van with a 1.5l Diesel engine. It's tank had a capacity of 11Imp. gallons and I used to fill it up every forthnight (around 420miles).

So in about 7 weeks I filled it up 3 times. Last fill up was last Monday. And I think that compensates for the amount of mpg less that it gives me. You guys must fill up every week or so.

I've only got 375 miles on the clock, but 330 of those were racked up on 2/3 of a tank, so I'd expect to get somewhere in the region of 450+ for a full tank.

mine does same as yours ! i think its the climate (maybe the fuel is evaporating with the extra heat :crybaby: ) i also tried not having a hard right foot , helped a bit but not that much! will try taking off cone filter to see if it will get the figures they are saying but i doubt it!
