Read this if i uderstand it it means unless toyota make a remapped ecu

theres nothing that we cad do

Your Toyota Celica 1.8 VVT-iL uses an ECU which has an embedded processor. This means that your car does not use a chip that can be modified. The Powerchip we provide for your car is an additional computer which alters the ignition timing and fueling of the vehicle for more power. Installation takes about 1 hour and can be performed by a Powerchip Authorised Fitter. There are authorised fitters in most areas. Please enquire at the time of order for your nearest fitting station.

In standard form, the Celica 1.8 VVT-iL produces 140 kW and 180 Nm.

Powerchip has a range of chips to suit your car, which can increase it's power to between 149 kW and 154 kW, and it's torque to between 192 Nm and 198 Nm.

The price of the Powerchip is AUD $1689.6.

In order for us to give you specific power improvements and pricing information, please continue on to the next page. By providing your email address, we will email you a comprehensive ten page datasheet specific to your car.

i think that celica and corolla have not the same ECU...

many tuners now use additional ECU if they cannot remape the standard.

what is the exchage rate of the AUD?

Powerchip are developing a unit for the Corolla which uses a different setup to the current unit used on the Celica. My car is being used as the test car for development if succesfull then the cost may be different to that stated on their current web site.

According to them the revised unit works but will be run on a dyno to do a full test tomorrow. I will have the results hopefully in the next few days.

If phil3345 is correct in his pricing then the unit would cost approx 1100 USD.

In the web site it says that there is already a ECU for the CTS

but i am worrying because it gives 180 bhp as stanadard power of the CTS

vaggelis I wish you would read what I said rather on keep on saying there is an ecu or the info on powerchips site web site I sent. There is no ecu replacement it is an add on to the existing ecu. Yes they do have an add on box for the celica and was assumed by them that it was the same as the celica at the time they posted it to their web site. They are developing one for the Corolla at the moment the web site is not entirely correct in saying they have one (the celica ecu may not be the same). They had not even seen the Sportivo Corolla (tsport) as it is called here until I gave them my car. :ffs:

Powerships from what I have heard are not that great and not that popular.

Personally I would prefer to go for something like a Unichip which is mapped to your car during the installation which will then take into account any other modifications you have done eg air intake, exhaust etc etc. and can be remapped if you do further modifications.

Of course Unichip isnt the only decent system out there but it is tried and tested with an awful lot of happy customers.

Totally agree mate. Unichip is the way to go. Im trying to explain this in another thread ;)

There very reliable, but if you have any trouble just unplug it and carry on driving. Warranty on the product will sort it out but problems are quite uncommon as far as i know. And all for about £400 fitted/dyno'd
