Interior Trim Fabric

Hi, I have just taken off my seat covers to check to see how they are made, and have come to the conclusion, given my background and ability to use a sewing machine, I am going to make seatcovers for my little Yaris...

the question is, do you know where I can get the fabric from? would leather be terrible expensive? would vinyl be too hot and sticky?

Or indeed has anyone tried to make their own in the past and has it been a success or a complete hash?

Hey if they turn out half decent, I'd be interested in buying a set off you, and I reckon others too...

The fabric that came with mine isn't amazing, and the covers you can buy never ever fit properly!

Thats part of the reason why I want to make them, the things I have seen atvariousshops seem naff to say the least, and it seems there is a suppliers around the corner, however they only do "leathercloth" and not actual hides so I need to know, how rubbish would vinyl look/feel

think I might just order a sample of the colours I am looking for so I can see it... some vinyls can look quite good... it depends how well they are made and coloured... but I do agree with you... if that is not the case they can look a little cheap and nasty :S

Surely cloth would be somewhat more comfortable than vinyl? Slightly nicer feel too?

Not being funny but also wouldn't it not match the rest of the car then? Would have to be pretty simple for it still to tie in/look right imo.
