Gotta say I do agree with the WRC spolier bit Adam but its the misses car and she prefers the lower wing so doesn't look that that's going anywhere. :(

As for the Gen 7 seats again the misses perfers them, I've not quite made my mind up yet

Paddle clutch is the fensport ceremettalic one, previous owner put it in by his choice. It does feel alot sharper than the stock clutch and better for launches etc so personnal feeling choice rather than to do with mods etc I think.

I don't like the WRC spoiler either!

You might have to keep an eye on that clutch, non-organic ones are not designed for slipping (i.e normal launches), and they tend to wear really fast if you use them like a traditional clutch.

True, but then we both learnt how to drive properly instead of riding the clutch all the time like everyone seems to do these days.

I didn't mean riding the clutch, I meant letting it out gently like you do in a normal start. Non organic clutches don't even like that - they are designed for race applications where you sidestep the clutch at 4000 rpm. ;)

I always thought that the ceramic paddle clutches were unsuited to road car applications. As intimated by mike here it`s a case of either wearing out the clutch uber quick or killing the transmision line in short order. ;)

Copied from Fensport Website

Stage 1 Helix Uprated Cerametallic kit consists of -

A modified standard rated clutch cover.

Ceramettalic 4 paddle driveplate with a heavy duty sprung centre hub.

Genuine Toyota release bearing.

It still provides a progressive engagement and it will still be friendly for road use, The cerametallic drive plate will keep its friction properties to a much higher temperature than the organic material, hence making the clutch more durable for mild track and drag days. By using a standard rated cover the price is kept down to a minimum. Normal clutch wear rate is mid to low, depending on slippage - ceramettalic plates wear quicker than organic when slipped.

Torque guide - 273FT/LBS*

So basic "can" wear quicker than organic clutch depending on how much you slip it but still fine for road use, and better for traffic light GP and track days etc. :D

Plenty of guys on GT4OC have paddle clutches and not had problems with them.

Previously had heard they can be a !Removed! for road cars etc, but having now tried it myself now I can't really see what everyone is moaning about. For the extra hold on it I think a slightly higher wear rate is perfectly acceptable.

Also I beleive that the helix one is the clutch Ian from toyauto centre recomends but with a different fly wheel (Might be wrong there was a rumor I heard i.e. not from the horses mouth or anything)

Hello!

Thanks v much I think it's pretty sweet myself.

I was actually bought for £4200, Tother half getting a bit confused in his old age. :P

Must say, as yet I've had no trouble with the old clutch thing, Andy was a bit unsure at first but now he has had the chance to crawl all over my car and drive her he seems happy with it all. - I say happy perhaps jealous is more like it! :D

"So, have you insured sketchy on it?"

I have insured the other half on it, I don't think I could have gone on living with those puppy dog eyes for much longer :D

But you are right the weekly shop has turned into a bit of a contest of who can get to the car first, my cunning plan however is to hide the extra set of keys! :P

The car is going well and come pay day she will have a nice oil change, Andy is doing it for me so expect I will have to let him have a spin in her afterwards.

Nope sorry i dont like the Helix clutches, they give a good pedal feel, and give a good amount of grip/ hold but the durability is very very questionable, they dont seem to last five minutes :crybaby: and on a job a difficult as the GT-Four clutch you really do want a clutch that will last IMHO

Fair enough Ian, seems to be holding well for the time being though and it's been in for about 3 years so far all be it only done about 10,000 miles. We'll keep an eye on it but all seem good so far.

Which clutch is it that comes in the kit you do Ian, and what's the deal with the flywheel you recommend I heard it was different to the Fidanza made from steel instead of aluminium or something??

Sorry to go off topic, but I think I saw your Toyauto Place in Nottingham the other day. I went with my father in law to look at a discovery at a salvage yard. As we walked through there were loads of GT4's Outside which I went to look at and I spotted the sign above the door. It's a bit hidden but looks a decent setup.
