i've got a st185 gt4, had it a year now and im more than chuffed with it....the only thing is that i feel im not getting as much power as i think it could give....the guy i bought it off, put an HKS induction kit, and HKS blow off valve and and bleed valve...the only thing is he never got the ecu set up for it, so i think im loosing the powere due to the ecu not knowing it has extra to work with.....also when i look at where the t-piece goes onto the turbo, it doesn't look as if its covering it properly - its a samco t-piece - so it must be loosin pressure around that area...

what do yous guys things??

The stock ECU will compensate for the induction kit to some extent itself, not to the extent that a full remap with aftermarket ecu would do. But I don't think you get much more power out from that with only limited mods.

What type of Blow off valve is it, alot of 185 owners found that vent to atmosphere dump valves gave bad results due to that model having a flow meter. The flow meter see x amount of air going through so fuels for that, when the dump valve goes off it lets all the air out and as the ecu does see this happen it ends up overfueling.

Got any pics of the t-piece you on about, they should all be clamped in place I would have thought.

thanx for replyin mate....

i will get some pics for you to let you see, but it is fixed on, but i have some oil running down from the t-piece

im thinkin about gettin a st205 turbo for it...do you think that would be a good investment?? what ecu do you think i should get?? are they easy enough to put in, or do i have to get someone to put it in for me....im not a machanic myself and i only hvae limited knowledge of these things....

the blow off valve is an HKS valve...it doesnt seem to cause any issues at all, the car does like the cold at all, its seems like its 100 year old when its cold and really damp...but i think that would be the same with any of these types of car...

Has it had Dizzy cap, rotor arm, HT leads and spark plugs replaced recently? Any one of this items can cause rubbish sparking and hence poo power. Also air filter and fuel filter.

Oil might be coming out of dump valve when it goes off due to PCV system.

205 turbo would be a good upgrade but depends on what price you can get one for, other options are CT26 from supra, just need to swap the exhaust housing with you twin port one then it's a bolt on fit, or CT26 hybrid. Need to make sure the engine is in good condition and all the basics have been sorted first though.

I wouldn't recommend a new ECU at this stage again that's for later in the game once the basics have been sorted and you still want more power, also definately not for someone who doesn't know what their doing to fit.
