I have noticed my far right rear speaker was not working, after removing the panel I checked the connections to the speaker and found they were not getting power, tracing back I saw the amplifier above the speaker, then bypassed the amp and the sound was ok, telling me that the amp is shot, I do not want to invest the 368 dollars for a new one, anyone have any ideas, I could direct connect the speaker, or is there an alternative amp I can use which cost cheaper, I live in Norway so junkyards are out of the question.

Hi -

Sounds as if the main radio unit feeds the seperate amplifier(booster in your case, sisnce the speaker outputs feed the rear amplifier's speaker inputs).

If you are happy with the sound/volume now that you have disconnected the amp. then don't bother getting another one. If you do want to replace it, then make sure it has speaker inputs(hi-level, opposed to RCA's which are lo-level), then make sure that the RMS output is more or less the minimum speaker input rating.

It's easier damaging a speaker with a to small amp. than it is with a to large amp.

Hope this helps

Regards

Erwin
