Morning All

Bought an 03 T4 a few weeks ago (with 32k on clock) and have been reading this site so thought it rude not to introduce myself. I'm generally happy with the motor apart from a few minor niggles.

What should the revs be when idle, mine fluctuates between 6 and 800 rpm, is this normal?

Mine is Petrol 1.8

In the morning, especialy with low air temperature, revs go between 1500-1800. Then it quckly goes down and stays a bit higher then 1000 for few more miles. When engine gets to its fully working temperature, yes, it stays between 600-800. With AC on, it can get a bit higher sometimes, up to 1000. So, it's normal.

Other thing, if you feel slight vibrations in the cabin, comming from the engine bay when idle, it's also normal.

You'll like the car, you'll see. Some minor things can happen but nothing big. Any doubt, post it here.

I've got mine from new and had some minor issues solved, also done some minor upgrades (4000k hedalight bulbs, silver turning signs bulbs inside the headlights to avoid that yellow effect, third breaking light (tail) in led, cover for armrest between front seats to preserve original one from getting dirty, as it does quickly...).

The only thing I can't solve is steering clicking when turning from left to right while car is stopped or moving on very low speed. It's known problem and nothing to do with it. It has no mechanical problem. It's just airbag spirall cable making noise but no problem. The rest, I'm 100% satisfied.

Thanks mate  I agree the upholstery does get dirty quickly and I will have to sort the lights out. I bought the car out of warranty so took a chance. Toyota said they would offer me a warranty as good as a new one but over £500 for 2 years. Don't know what it will cover though. I did get 10 spoke toyota alloys on it the like of which I have never seen on another Avensis. So far I like it but haven't got used to the restricted visibility having gone from a Peugeot 406 it's a different gravy.
