Good Bodyshops - Recommendations Please

Hi everyone, I'd like your help please.

My MR2 needs to have some minor rust bubbles fixed on the rear arches and paintwork repairs carried out. The paintwork stuff could easily be a job for somewhere like ChipsAway, but I'm thinking that I should have everything done under one roof. To be honest, I'm not sure ChipsAway could handle the arches and do a great job.

So, could anyone please recommend a good bodyshop that can carry out this work? Please only recommend somewhere that you have had experiences with, as I'd like to know that you were very happy with the work carried out (Reading/South East area).

As you can appreciate, it would be great to have this done for JAE if poss (or soon after if not). Also, I want the best results so that the work lasts and doesn't ruin the car in the long run (dodgy paint matches etc) considering I'd like to keep the MR2 as original as I can.

I'm a total newbie to bodyshops, so your recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Stay away from Reading .. they are either cut 'n shut type places, or cater for kids trying to flip paint their cars (read, expensive and shonky).

Have you thought about Millway .. you too can have a car there for 6 months :D

 Oh ok... not Reading then.

I didn't know Millway had a bodyshop tbh. Any good? Although I must admit that I'm a bit put off by the whole '6 month' thing, as you can probably appreciate ;)

Give them a call .. you know the big white box (two stories high) at the far end of the garage? It's a spray booth.

I'm sure for a good car, it wouldn't be 6 months. ;)

I spoke to loads about my MR2 getting a re-spray .. there are some real dodgy back street places.

Another good one is behind the Headly Tyre dealership the other side of Newbury. (on the 339, towards B'stoke) Should be in the yellow pages www.yell.com

Cheers Ben. Do you know of someone who has had work done at the place in Newbury?

I've been looking at classic car restorers too - one not too far from me is the Brooklands Motor Company. Got a feeling it will be very expensive, but it's on my list as they specialise in restoration work - so arch bubbles *should* be a piece of cake... Might be overkill though.

A mate with a black GT4 got a blowover there to freshen his newly imported gen6. The work was very good. I'm going to be asking them and Millway for a blowover on the S2000 at somepoint.

What's a blowover? Sounds dodgy :D

Hello darling, I'd like a blowover ...

Paul.

It's applying a coat of paint the same colour as the car, it's cheaper than having a full re-spray.
