Ae92 Handbrake Trouble...

Hi folks,

When i pulled on the handbrake today heard a nasty old sound, then realised it was slack as anything, hence does not work anymore...

Took a look under the car and removed the centre console to have a look and it seems that the cable that runs from the primary cable to the passenger side rear calliper has stretched or frayed, etc... i.e. needs replacing.

Has anyone any ideas on how difficult it is to replace this cable and where i could get one from?

Fensport do one for £20 which seems a bit steep, anybody know of anywhere else?

Thanks in advance,

MiKe

not that hard to be honest.

there is a pin and split pin at the caliper end and the handbrake end it is like the lever end of a bike cable. the main problem is rust on thebolts that hold the cable these will most likely shear off, either drill and retap or resort to the good ol cable ties.

£20 dosnt seem bad but check with a motorfactors first

i used cable ties on my handbrake vcables and passed the MOT by only 1%....... so make sure its really really tight if u use cable ties. a decent motor factors should get ur cable for around a tenner
