Well I'm not a happy bunny today. I've noticed that my passenger door has been scratched.

Theres a 1 inch square area in the middle of the passenger door that has about 5 inch-long scratches on. I'm certain it has been hit by a shopping trolley whilst in Sainsbury's yesterday.

I had ChipsAway to look at it this morning and he is unable to make it go completely. He cannot spray it because the door is just one huge panel with no folds or creases to blend up to, so he is going to attempt to manually touch-in the scratches, but he thinks it will only look 50% to 80% better.

My only other option is to have the entire door sprayed, but that will cost a fortune (which I will pay if I have to), but I'm worried the colour won't match 100%.

I'm so annoyed that this has happened. I deliberatly park away from all the other cars. Why do people have no respect for other people's property these days? I've never damaged anyone else's stuff. I just hope that what goes around comes around and the scum who did this finds their car vandalised one day.

I could do, but I doubt they would do anything about. I have no proof that it happened in their car park, and there's bound to be a sign that say's you park at your own risk.

TBH, it's not the cost of fixing it that annoys me most, it's that to make it disappear completely the whole door needs spraying and even then the paint is not gonna match the rest of the car 100%.

I'll see what the ChipsAway dude can do and if I'm not satisfied then I'll consider having it sprayed. Trouble is it's bound to happen again at some stage, so what's the point?

Here's a couple of pictures of the damage. They aren't very good quality though: :crybaby:

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I hate supermarket car parks and I also park so far away from the store I get my exercise walking from the car and back.

If you do get the door sprayed I don't think you'd need worry about the paint matching. It's just the cost is a right pain.

Sorry to hear about your new car being scratched.

I don't think that parking problems are confined just to supermarkets these days it seems that no matter where you park or indeed how far away from everyone else you intentionally leave your car some idiot will be drawn like a magnet to park next to you.

My previous car when new cost me £23,000 a Rover 75 which was my pride and joy, 12 months later I had a collection on small dents, scratches and a damaged bumper none of which I had been responsible for. Sat at the traffic lights one day a woman crossed behind my car attempting to squeeze between mine and the car behind me and put a scratch from her bag all the way across the boot and didn't even offer a second glance!!

Got to the supermarket this Sunday morning, parked as far away from the entrance as possible and when I got back 10 minutes later, yep you guessed it. What are you supposed to do.

I hope you get it sorted and hope you don't suffer any more damage in the future.

Rotten luck - I hope you get is sorted OK back to its previous magnificence and console yourself that the person responsible for the damage probably does not appreciate or own such a vehicle - may be never will.

i know how u feel, some of you may remember my aygo was smashed in a car park not two weeks after i got it. so i totally understand what u mean.

few points

ive been looking at your damage to the door and its the same damage i had on mine, except i also had a a huge 4 inch dent in the door sill!! to go with the door scrapes (some mentalist driver who if i ever meet will get what he deserves)

but i just went to Mr T (Toyota) and they basically fixed her up and looks better then new really. the only solution to the door they said was to reskin it, that way u avoid the uneven respray effect.

but expect Mr T to charge quite a lot, so bring your insurance in if you can afford to.

let us know how you got on. and good luck

ChipsAway have now done their best af fixing it.

He basically polished away the smaller scrapes and touched in the larger ones.

It is still quite visible when you know it's there, but it is better than it was and I can't really afford to have the door sprayed. Don't really want to use my insurance either as I had a large claim last January.

So I think I'm gonna leave it for now. I had thought about putting the rubbing strips from the "Aygo Protected" option onto the doors, but I have not seen these, so I would like to see what they look like first. Does anyone have any pictures?

Another thought I had was having some vinyls put on the doors, but I would need to think up some design for them. Any thoughts?

I always park my Yaris in a quiet area of the car park & like it's been said other cars seem to be drawn to it like a magnet..what annoys me most are the people carriers/4 x 4's that also make the gap between both vehicles really small and everything gets so awkward :ffs:

Anyway glad that it's a bit better now, how much did chipsaway cost?

4x4's :ffs: you noticed how common it is to see they don't bother at all now and just park in two spaces instead? (though yesterday in Tesco I noticed a nice new Focus doing the same, though it had a red and white flag on it, and there was something with Burberry check on the rear shelf, two warning signs?)

Otherthing is be careful parking it on its own, a friend she always did that until some special person in a Tesco car park smashed the window so they could take a look under the seats and in the empty glovebox

Have a nice day all :)

Argh. I'm so annoyed. I now have an almost identical scrape on the drivers door. In 8 years of driving I have not had a single parking ding and now I have 2 in 2 weeks. What is it with the Aygo?

I can't afford to keep having these fixed, so I'm gonna cover them up.

In these 2 pictures you can see where the dings are as orange blobs:

.

Right-vi.jpg

Now I have 2 options: Side mouldings or graphics.

Toyota offers side mouldings for the doors of the Aygo:

Sidemouldings-vi.jpg

But as you can see in the pictures of my car, the dings might be a little too high for correctly placed mouldings to cover them up, so they would need to be placed higher up the door and may look pretty rubbish. But at least they would help prevent it happening again.

The graphics option could look really good or terrible. I would need to find a suitable graphic that would guarantee covering the marks up on both sides. I don't have a clue where to start or what design to use, so any help on this one would be appreciated. Here's an image for anyone who fancies photoshopping me some graphics:

Perhaps I should hold a competition. Best design wins a prize - their design on my Aygo!

Also, with the graphics, they might not stop future marks from appearing.

Decisions, decisions.

I had my Aygo keyed intentionally (I know it was intentinal because the lines left are 'wobbly' rathre than straight which would be the case if a car/bike had accidentally scratched my Aygo.) (the tw*t left two lines - he probably though one line wasn't enough and came back and scratched it again!) across whole of the driver's side...

I went to my Toyoto dealer and they quoted GBP630 for a respray job.

My question is will I get a different quote if I pop into a different dealer?

The scratch I believe hasn't damaged the body panels - just the paint - but it runs across the body panel and the door. Is the price quoted reasonable?

Also are there any big companies that specialises in respray??

Cheers

I know how you feel. I usually park my car in the driveway of my landlord's house which is on the other end of the street to me. One night I decided to park half on/half off the pavement outside my own house because the rain was lashing down and I thought hey it's the weekend and the area is quiet on weekends so it'll be fine.

I go to get in the car the next morning to find a huge line all the way across the driver's side of the car. Originally I thought some :censor: :censor: keyed my car but when I rubbed at the "scratch" it started coming off and I realised it was some rubber/paint residue. Thankfully the damage wasn't as bad as it could have been in that I only had a hairline scratch about half an inch long at the back. I haven't a clue what it was that caused it because the line was wavy, it could've have been a bike or a car because the line continued up to just under my wing mirror and the wing mirror wasn't damaged. Probably some drunk leaned up against my car and proceeded to leave residue on the side. Though whatever it was it was tough stuff, it took a LOT of elbow grease before it came off!

Anyways. Yes. I've seen wing mirrors taken off cars on my street because idiots in sports cars (and once a 4x4) bomb up at about 30mph or more when there's JUST enough room to squeeze my own car through.

There are some ungrateful :censor: :censor: out there.
