Is there and way of touching up a gold bonnet so it looks any good?

Only picked it up yesterday and they were going to 'sort it' but alas the chips are still down!

I'm guesing touch up sticks don't work very well?

You can get touch up tape from Mr T ...... I've got some for mine but it's for the colour silver.

I haven't used it though so I can't tell you if it's any good or not

Depends on how bad the chips are and how many - if its a few a touchup job is easiest and cheapest - but if its more serious somewhere like chipsaway will do a good pro job but expect to pay a bit (100 or so)

I have... it's too thick and it's cr@p.

Surely if they were going to fix it, then they still should.

Otherwise, I'd use a touch up pen unless the chips are really bad.

They said they did the best they could! :D

Might try chips away, they're not massive chips (steak cut?) but there are lots of them!

I started to notice quite a few on mine so i'm just going to give it a proper wash then sit there finding as many as possible n filling them in :P Then just let them dry and wax over top maybe with some polish/tcut first to blend them in a bit! These pens like a fiver from toyota yeah? and they fill in a bijillion-and-one stone chips?

Ok.. I had a rather large chip on my bonnet from a rock that must have come up...

My old Yaris was Flame Gold too.. and believe me.. its a bugger to paint match ;)

if they are only small.. ChipsAway may be able to do something about it... but mine being as it was.. he couldnt get it 100% right....as it was a large chip and the bonnet is a mor horizontal surface (hence more difficult)

The ultimate is to get the bonnet resprayed...

Yeah. Flame Gold is, I think, considered a "low hiding" paint like my old Yaris's Caldera Red. Quite simply, it doesn't really cover anything you paint with it, the colour beneath shows through. Think Candy colours where the colour is built up depending on the number of coats.

Anyway, with any metallic, the trick is to stir the paint realy well then... stir it some more. Apply thinly and evenly over the desired area and allow to dry thoroughly. No need to rush. If not happy, then you can add another coat. Don't be tempted to apply the paint thickly, it wil look pants.

Finally, don't forget to cover the paint once really dry with a coat of clear laquer. This should now make it look a lot more like the surrounding paint.

Oh and leave it a day or two before waxing the car.
