Going To Look At A Gt4

Right, I'm off to look at a GT4 this weekend.

1994 Import, pictures of look pretty good.

But what do I really have to watch for when buying a GT4.

I know the Super Strut can be expensive if it's completely gone, but how do I spot how good a condition it's in?

Is there a way to tell what kind of shape the turbo's in?

I've heard people talk of error codes on GT4's, where does the car tell you these and how do I find out what the codes mean?

Thanks in advance.

ss parts knock at under 10 mph when pulling off , try lock to lock to make it knock also . small bumpy roads make it knock also , you will know the sound its unmistakeable , its like a worn ball joint metal on metal sound .

the 2 main ss parts are 340 quidish to buy per side , but just doing 1 side is fine .the exhaust will let you know if the turbo is ok by what comes out of it when you hit 100 mph in 3rd gear .:lol::thumbsup: IF its got abs make sure it all works fine as its expensive to fix, try letting go of the steering wheel at 40 mph if it pulls hard to the left or right walk away and dont buy it.

great car , very very fast , handle great , 1 of the best if not the best car i ever owned and drove.HOPE THIS HELPS.

Thanks guys,

I've also heard that if the radiators about to go you can tell because it starts to bleach the colour out of the plastic cover that goes over it (it starts to turn a light brown colour). Is that true?

Ok, that one was a bit of a dud. Shame to see a GT4 that hasn't been looked after.

I won't say any more other than this: the ABS light came on, and she just said "aye, that goes on and off all the time. But the brakes still worked so I never worried", I asked her how long it's been doing it, she replied "since I bought it two years ago".

Anyone happen to know of any decent GT4's for sale in the west-central scotland area, preferably as standard as possible.

aye sure is a shame to see a 4 not so well looked after, fantastic cars, have everything you need. The sleek coupe look, the power....oh the power, the power delivery through the transmission is spot on, the handleing is fantastic and reliable as an old boot.

excellent cars.

When i bought mine i just happened to hit the nail on the head and bought a minter, only looked at one and followed my heart not my head.

But when you do find a great example snap it up, not many of these about any more and are too understated by the chavvy p'evo and subaru lot ;)

get one, get one soon, and start wiping smiles off faces :D

I'm jumping about like mad trying to get one. I know of someone who is going to be selling theres at some point this month so fingers crossed.

Really have to sell my car as well tho, been on autotrader for week now with no interest. Put it on a bunch of forums yesterday so we'll see if that sparks any extra interest. If I get desparite I may put it on eBay with a reserve and hope someone snaps it up.

And as for the wiping smiles off faces... yes, my mate has an Integra and he's not looking forward to me getting a 4.

Nah, hehe not mine. I am also looking for a four and had seen that one advertised and pondered about it, I figured it was no good as the price has dropped a lot since it was first advertised a month or so ago.

:)

I can also advise you don't waste your time going to see the ones advertised by redline performance in Bradford (if anyone was thinking about it). They had a good 100k knocked off the clocks!
