Is This Normal?

Whenever i lock my car i can never open it from the inside this is the double lock feature i hear about, but i thought its only meant to work when the car is locked with the remote locking is pressed twice in quick sucsession. It happens when i lock it once with the remote and from the inside with the central locking button.

(P.S. I have a P2 Yaris too!)

No, that's not normal. As you say, double lock is only supposed to happen when you press the remote lock twice. First press it locks, lights flash. Second press, flash again, doublelocked.

Oh, how did you get out of the car if it was doublelocked, remote? ;)

It happened to me once a twice nearly a year back. I was going to take it in to Mr T but it's never happened again.

Do you try the lever on the door first?

Don’t forget to pull the knob up first by the window, and then pull the door lever

when u lock the car from the inside, the door doesnt open by using the handle, you have to push the central locking button inside the car to unlock it then get out.

I have to click lock on my remote 3 times to deadlock the car

i thought to activate the deadlockes it was 2 clicks and the 3rd click does an extra lock, no idea wot it is tho or is it a double lock on 2 clicks and deadlocks on 3 clicks?

One click locks doors and activates alarm if you have one

Two clicks double locks the doors

Three clicks de-activates the interior alarm

Four clicks re-activates the interior alarm

If anybody's doesn't follow that sequence then they've broken their car! :P

But we're not talking about a T Sport here. Does this T3 have an alarm?

Either way, one click should not double lock the car. Take it to a dealer.

That's your answer then... groan.gif

The button on the door next to the electric windows is a car jacking deterrent, it will lock the doors (and boot) on the outside but you have to lift the knob first to unlock then pull the door lever (or press the button again to unlock all the doors) to get out.

If you lock the doors with the remote key fob (pressing twice) that will double lock the doors and you won’t be able to lift the knob to get in or out.

Don’t double lock your car with someone inside as they won’t be able to get out in any emergency.

i get it now i thought double lock meant someone couldn't open it from the inside using the lever enless the pin was pulled up. Cause some cars from the inside can unlock and open the door if its locked. Now i think about it i feel a bit stupid!

It does!

If someone breaks your window they can't open the door by pulling the knob up if 'it's double locked

Now I'm confused...

What's the question again?

You're confused?!

Surely the whole point of the double lock is that you can't lift the knob up (it's late, I know I could phrase that better).

Anyone stuck in a double locked car (without the key) is only getting out through a window.

Where were we? rofl.gif

Yeah ...... there's a similar feature on all of the big manufacturers cars over here VW etc

To unlock the car - press the unlock button once and it will only unlock the drivers door

Press it again within 5 seconds and it will unlock all of the other doors

It's a really good feature if you ask me, especially if you are alone. To lock all the doors you just push the lock button once, and while I'm typing it's about time Mr T used the folding key as it's really neat

But back on topic -

If you press the button in the car by the electric windows this will LOCK the car, but you are able to open it by pulling up the pin.

If you press the lock button once on the keyfob it will LOCK the car and you can open the doors by pulling the pin up

If you press the lock button twice on the keyfob it will DEADLOCK the car and no matter what you do you can not open the door.

I like the feature because when my GF gets on my nerves I lock her in the car till she apologises/agrees :lol:

It's like your own personal jail ;)
