Gearbox Worries On A Gen 6

No, this topic is actually not about gears crunching.. :P

The problem is that when changing gear and depressing the clutch pedal the gear shift pulls forward against the palm of my hand. The movement is most prominent in smaller gears and when revving up hard. It's only slight movement, but it can be felt nevertheless. Surely this not normal?

The big question now is what might wrong? Engine mounts? Gearbox?

Thanks in advance! Having recently acquired my baby, I bet this won't be my last question though.. :)

I investigated the matter more during the weekend. It seems like the gear shift doesn't actually move, it's more like somekind of a weird movement can be felt through the gear shift when releasing the clutch. Moreover, I don't think the engine mounts are to be blamed because the gear shift hardly moves at all no matter how hard you rev the engine. It's definitely something with the gearbox or clutch.

Sorry for not being able to describe the problem more explicitly..

Check the gearbox to engine bolts around the bellhousing. Also gearbox/engine mount bolts. Check condition of the actual mounts. The rear gearbox mount is usually the one that gives trouble. You`ll have to jack the car up and use axle stands to get under and have a good look. If the rubber is cracked/perished or soft (Possible oil contamination) It needs replacing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips!

I'll try and check everything you mentioned the next weekend, unfortunately no time before that.
