Radio

My sisters Yaris radio had a tape player instead of a CD one.

I have been to Halfords and they can not install a new radio, I have read the how to section of the forum and I think two ladies will be able to install a new radio.

Will any radio fit in the car?

The dash Speakers seem to be a funny shape, will any 4" speaker fit there?

can someone recommend a amp and sub package for about £200, also will I need anything else

Any radio that fits in a normal DIN slot should fit if you use all the various adaptors + fascia plates.

Not sure about the dash Speakers.

the dash are 10cm, any will fit in there, what I did when I fitted my Speakers in there, I screwed the first bolt back in, and then drilled a new hole to fit the second one in, I don't think there is much you can do, if you don't screw the speaker down it could vibrate with the bass.

most Headunits should fit under the original tape player, there may be one or two you could have a problem with, but if you are using the new double din unit face plate, any headunit will fit.

Yeah with my dash Speakers, the screw holes weren't in line with the existing ones so i just screwed one in the existing one through the metal loop on the speaker and the other outside the loop with the lip of the screw kind of holding it down! Sounds completely rattless and good :P And i'm pretty sure the coin slot is DIN size so any HU will fit in either two ways! Also if you know what HU your getting you could always ask if anyone has it already fitted!

Ok, so how do I make the new holes for the speaker, the windscreen is in the way.

Where do I get a face plate from?

Take the grill off - it prises off easy with a flat headed screw driver - work your way round from the edge that is the further forward (i.e. nearest to the air vents) and go round.

I just had a look at mine and when I had my components installed, they used hotglue to stick the tweeters to the grill :).

If you screw speaker into one of the original holes(the one furthest away from door each side) then it will fit snug into the space with one of the new speaker screw wholes (on the outer ring of speaker) pushing against the dashboard so it is snug, it doesnt rattle!
