Yaris Power Steering Fluid

Hi I've recently bought a 2004 Yaris 1.0 5dr and I'm really happy with it.

It has got power steering but I can't see the power steering fluid reservoir.

Can anyone tell me where it is ?

It's not where the Haynes manual shows it.

Or does this model share the brake fluid for the power steering (if that's possible) ?

Or maybe it doesn't use hydraulic power steering ?

2nd question.

Can anyone tell me the common problem areas on the Yaris. I want to catch any issues early.

Many Thanks for any advice.

Steve.

Steve.

I have a 1.4 turbo diesel so yours could be different but if you look at the belts that come off the crank and follow them to the power steering pump (on d4d this is hidden at the back of engine near the bottom)

then you should see a big rubber type top on it screw this anti-clock about 1/4 turn and it should realese.

When you lift it out you will see a dippstick with markings on one for when the car's hot and one for cold, top up as requirerd.........

just for the record i have never seen electric power steering, also i have only seen citreon use the same fluid for brake's and power steering and this is green LHM fluid that also does suspention..........

hope this help's

On the theme of power steering... I need some advice from power steering experts!

On the P2 Yaris with electric power steering - is this purely an electric system, or is it a hydraulic-electric system - with power steering fluid which powers an electric motor rather than a belt driven motor.

And is the t-sport a different set-up to other Yaris?

Any help would be great

The P2 Yaris has an "All Electric" power steering set up......................No steering fluid at all.

Not really sure about the T Sport
