Just Thought I Would Post A Snap Shot Of What I Was Doing At 3pm Today

So, about a year ago my Yaris was hit by a bus. It just clipped me (caught the rear end)

I've been meaning to do something about it for ages, I bought a new (I say new I mean new to me ) bumper off eBay as my one was badly scratched.

Whilst I was swapping them over I thought I would get a closer look at the damage.

So here we go.

This is the bit that the bus hit, I'm too scared to get a quote on a repair. lol

Doesn't it look very much like a Verso with out the bumpers

Also had a dent in the bottom part of the bumper, I've managed to hammer nearly all off it out now. also what are those black vent things for?

the new bumper fitted nicley thanks to the trusty Haynes Manual.

So you've not been driving it for a year!?

Or you've been driving it with a bent bumper?

Did you get anything from the bus company? They are usually right :censor: about compensation :-s. A bus pulled out into the side of my mum's car - scraped red all the way down the side of it, but no compensation :(.

Hope you get it sorted okay, lets see pics of the fix!

Ah, that sucks! Most of the time buses assume you will stop for them! Probably because they haven't got great braking performance!

Did you at least damage the bus? :-)

Damage on your bumper didn't look too bad.

Are you kidding?? I've been in a few 7.5ton lorrys and bigger wagons and they have the same air-brakes as buses and if you slam the pedal... trust me, you stop VERY quickly! So much so that my girlfriends dad wasn't wearing his seatbelt about 12 years ago in one... slammed on and went through the screen... at 30mph!

Buses are designed to accelerate to 30mph as quickly as they can and stop very quickly... the problem is that on older buses the brakes can get very 'grabby' hence why a lot of bus journeys get a bit jerky!

Ah I see!

They're such brutes tho' :(

Wouldn't ever want to drive one, I hear petrol tanker drivers get paid > £80k :D

They are indeed brutes! It's the bus drivers who are dangerous ... not the buses though!

Didn't know they got paid that much... they have to drive silly hours and miles though.

Lol, true. Also the small risk of explosion / accidents! I think it takes quite a degree of skill to succesfully pilot a tanker full of explosive fuel places...hehehe/

It's just like any driver really .... you get the good drivers and you also get the bad drivers.

You should see the delivery guys working at my local Mac Donalds ..... I amazed how they can REVERSE a lorry into such a small area :unsure:

Oxford busses are only a couple of years old, they keep changing them.

This picture was taken in 1999, look they're nearly new busses.

I've been on the bus when it need to stop, and stop it does.

Unfortunately all of the passengers are slammed in to the front window, except the guy in the wheel chair facing the other way.

I bet the bus drive wanted to get just close enough to scare me. But it didn’t go to plan.

My Dad used to drive a petrol tanker, but gave it up years ago! Didn't earn that kinda money though!

Some of the newer buses are limited to 27 mph.

My FIL used to drive one..

He hit 2 idiots in his first week. They seemed to forget that a bus is bigger and the driver doesn't care if it gets damaged ;)

I bus to work, in the past two years I've been in five crashes whilst on them.

* Busses into busses.

* Busses into street furniture

* Busses into cars.

They just don't care.

I think you are getting a bit of a complex about this. ;)

Not ALL bus drivers are bad and a lot of them DO care..............about their busses ,their passengers and other road users.

BTW I am not a bus driver

Well maybe not all bus drivers, but I would say 90% of busses I’ve been on the driver is either speeding, or stopping at the last moment causing all the people on the bus to hold on to what they’ve got.

I amazes me how close the busses stop and then creep behind other cars on the road, I’m putting my brake foot down thinking we’re going to hit the back of a car.

Talking about busses I got on one yesterday after I’d finished work, the fair has gone up to £1.40 from £1.30, because I was 10p short I had to walk half way home, he wouldn’t let me off the 10p.

Oh I do hate busses :yes:
