I'm selling my RAV4 Type G.

I ordered this car new from the factory whilst I lived in Tokyo and as well as the equipment spec in Japan being significantly better than the UK I also added a lot of factory options to it.

Type G Package

- 3S-GE engine, 180PS (this is the best bit :D)

- Rear disc brakes

- front strut brace

- 235/60-16 wheels/tyres

Aerosport body kit, this still turns heads and a lot of people ask me if thats the new model...

- front dam

- wheel arch extensions

- sill extensions

- rear door spoiler (with integrated radio aerial)

Factory options

- Torsen LSD on the rear axle (this is as well as the standard centre diff lock)

- Moonroof, electric tilt/slide

- Leather Momo steering wheel and gear stick, very nice compared to the big lump of plastic you get over here, remember this is a factory option so you still get a standard air bag

- rear step, rounds out the rear of the car very nicely

Other standard (for Japan) bits

- fully automatic air conditioning

- clear front indicator lenses

- rear door opens all the way, no silly EU regulations limiting how far it opens

- Rear privacy glass, looks awesome against the black paintwork

In addition it currently has installed

- Pioneer AVIC-8DVD-II Sat Nav system

- Pioneer AVH-P7300DVD 7" in dash screen with DVD player (still the best Pioneer screen IMO)

- Pioneer DEH-P5500MP MP3/CD head

- Pioneer TS-C171 Speakers (these are custom fit for the RAV4, only available in Japan), the front's have separate tweeters

- Ericsson hard-wired hands free system fully integrated with the AV system (could easily be swapped out for an Ericsson bluetooth handsfree if you have a different brand of phone) and with an external antenna on the side window

And comes with

- Toyota bar rack

- Toyota Roof Rack (clamps onto bars)

Security:

- It has a good quality immobiliser professionally fitted by GAP (a requirement of my most recent insurer)

- locking wheel nuts

New front tyres were fitted a couple of thousand miles ago (you can still see the paint lines on them). They are Pirelli P6000's and grip like nobody's business. The original fit rears still have plenty of life in them.

It also had a new Battery in January after the interior light was left on for several days and the Battery never really held a charge after that.

I imported the car into the UK at the end of 2002 and it was SVA prepared by JEMCA in Hendon. This was a proper 'money no option' job rather than your usual import bodge and this is reflected in details like the fog light being properly set into the rear door rather than dragging along the ground.

Since then the car has been serviced by JEM. Note that all of the extra goodies on this car are standard Toyota parts so can be easily be sourced as spares, there is absolutely nothing third party in this car (except for the AV bits). Also the 3SGE engine was fitted to a number of cars officially available in this country so chances are most parts will be available in the UK.

The bodywork is very neat and tidy apart from a scuff on one of the wheel arch extensions. Inside it is also good.

I pay about 400 quid a year fully comp insurance which is fair given my 'inner London' postcode so it won't cost you the earth to insure despite the extra power over a standard car.

The car has its own website (!!) detailing its exploits around the world at http://www.laird.org/~alan/rav4/ if you want to see pictures. Note, I have a plain rear number plate if for some strange reason you don't want the one with the Saint Andrew's cross on it.

The car is located in London, close to the City and Canary Wharf.

I'm looking for decent offers in the 5K range to take account of all the extra goodies this car has and the low mileage which I think is very fair versus book value for a UK spec car. If I get a good enough offer I'll include the SatNav/AV stuff but otherwise assume its not included (although we could come to some arrangement since it would be a shame/pain to take it all back out again).

Mileage is currently just over 40K miles, i.e. not very much for its age. Tax runs out at the end of June but I'll extend that by 6 months once I'm allowed to. MOT runs till Dec. I have all of the original purchase paperwork for it (in Japanese) as well as its service record in the UK. All of the motor trade professionals who have seen this car over here are very impressed with its looks, spec and condition, I'm sure you will be too.

Feel free to contact me if you want to view or ask questions. The car is available by agreement from 12th June.

Thanks for reading, Alan

  • 2 weeks later...

Come on ladies and gents, there must be someone out there who wants this lovely car. It has to go by the end of this week......

Forgot to mention in the original post that it has electric rectractable wing mirrors, so hopefully that will swing it for someone.

Thanks, AL
