If you have a search .. you'll find that the 1.8 ST is an economy engine.

Sell up and buy a GT.

Hate to say it but anything else will be a BIG waste. You'd be better off putting your money in the bank and saving for that Supra.

Totally agree with Bibbs, your ST will have IIRC 115bhp, you'll be lucky to get much more TBH without throwing loads of money at it.

I'd look at a GT, they have 173bhp, and should suit your needs more  Plus they seem to be going quite cheap at present

OR, with you being 22, you will be able to insure a GT4 now :D

Got to agree with the last coupleof posts, if you tired of the ST the GT won't last long at all - it's got to be GT4.

I've got the ST and it's perfect for me as I don't get chance to open it up, but I considered selling it and getting a GT. NOt sure if you've looked about but the ST's seem to fetch more money than the GT's - I think theres less of them and young lads like us want them for the cheap insurance  I test drove a GT and was disappointed. It's just not worth the change - Just go for the GT4 - I'm 23 and got a quote from Churchill for under £600 Fully Comp

Surprised to hear that, Sotal - I would have hoped those extra 60 horses would make a noticeable difference, even given everything that's been said about the ST being more torquey.

Did you get to play around above 4k revs? What exactly disappointed you about the GT? Asking because I keep mulling over the idea of getting a GT, but have never been in one...

TIA

Unfortunatley, insurance is even more ridiculous in Ireland. I checked how much it would be for my GT when I go home in September and best i got so far was €1100 with a €4000 excess  and i'm 26 with 1yrs no claims.

Probably outragous money to insure a gt4 at 22 :( if even possible

As the lads said, best option is to upgrade to a GT.......might be bringing mine home to sell it in a month!

If I'm completley honest I hardly got to drive it like I would have wanted too  So I probably didn't get to high enough revs. What I did get to do was drive it like I was driving to work, infact it was only round the corner from my work so it was on some of the roads I drive to work along. Most of the time it felt no different. Pulling away quick to go across a roundabout it seemed slugish.

I know they need to be revved to get them going well and it's probably partly me but I'd jump straight to the GT4, insurance is only about £20 more for the GT4 for me, it would just be a little more to purchase. Having said that it looks like my next car will be a gen 7 190

I contemplated the GT4 and I do love the look and feel of them but i went for a GT as they are still quick if you need it but not high performance/high running costs etc.

I payed £1500 less for the GT than a good condition low mileage gt4 but i still have a nice car to drive.

I would wait a couple of years to get the GT4 if you still like them, so don't waste your money just sell the ST and buy a GT for the extra bhp :D
