The Low Down

i own a toyota avensis at present, but for a 23yr old chap it really isnt what i imagined my self owning, so after 18months its time for a change,

Now the avensis has been reliable since day one, it has been in the family for 4 years and never had one problem

So this brings me to the yairs and namely the T sport, i really like the look of the car in both its interior and exterior styling, and the 1.5 enigne ffrom what i believe is pretty good on power output

anyways ill cut to the chase, is there any problems which should be highlighed car the obvious - look for service history dodgy paint tec, are there enigne problems with these cars? bad build quality?

ANything you may not like with your let me know

Cheers if you can help me out

Gregg

Good choice! Cracking little cars!

Things to keep an eye out for are the usual:

Full Service History (Major are evry 2 years... or 20,000 miles, intermediate are every 10,000)

Any noises that shouldn't be there

Oil levels

Clean and tidy

The main Yaris problems that can occur in some models and should be checked are:

Knocking suspension noises (bushes can go at around 50,000 miles)

T-Sport wheels are prone to pitting and peeling (should be covered under warranty if warranty is left)

'Lumpy' to drive (Dirty MAF sensor... very easy to fix though)

Check for damp around passenger footwell and that the radio works as the aeriel was a source for a leak on a few models

Not much else!

Yaris quirks that are perfectly normal:

Bit rattly! (Boot lock just requires some grease and sticky pads at bottom of windscreen cure the main two rattles!)

Steering wheel isn't perfectly straight... often has a lean to the left (strange one that!)

That's about all I can think of! They're great little cars and very reliable... Clarky (member on here) is at about 115k miles on his first clutch and has had absolutley no problems whatsoever with his car!

This is why i have decided to get one

toyota seem mega reliable, i just test drove a Astra SRI and it was CHEAP ! so i am happy with the avensis decided that best bet is either a yaris or a corrola BUt the yaris has a certain charm especially the higher spec models

thanks for your help, those problems do not worry me one bit :D

They're great little cars - some oil and filters is all they require for a long happy life!

The t-sport has a nice interior and sturdy engine too

The SR is kind of the next model down Phase 1 style, is a bit sportier than the others, but has the 1.3 engine, also there is the CDX

Phase 2 the next model down is the T-Spirit, which comes with a 1.0 or a 1.3 engine

But you should be able to get a T-Sport for that sort of price I'd reckon.... if not then definitely an SR

OK couple of niggles that grip my *****. rear wiper only has one setting, CONSTANT and you wouldnt believe how much that annoys me, and also the passenger seat on a 3dr has NO memory so always goes back to bolt upright if moved. again bothers me more than i can possibly say. apart from those two things GREAT car and i love mine!!!
