Installed my equaliser yesterday night into the storage compartement about the ciggie lighter. I think it looks alright but it really improves the sound. It has an in-built amp so greatly improves the volume level aswell. Would advise others to do it. Heres a picture:

That looks like a damn good way of improving the sound quality. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction of where I could find something similair? How easy was it to fit or did it put up a fight?

One question for you. To save space (and to eliminate the risk of losing my 1500 strong CD collection if anyone stole the car) I bought an AUX cable and only use my iPod through the stereo as opposed to using the CD player. Will the equaliser (take the one you've fitted for example) give the same sound control if the input is from an external device (i.e. an iPod)? I can't see why it wouldn't but I'm not 100%

And good to see a fellow Aygo Driver /Marlboro smoker -although I can't be doing with these 'Racing Edition' packs

Hehe, I like the racing edition packs, but anyway the equaliser doesn't interact with the controls of the radio whatsoever it's its own device. I will get a picture up of the wiring I had to do later on as currently I'm at work or give me your msn later on a private message and I will explain for you. The equaliser just improves the quality. Mine is amplified so it outputs the same as an aftermarket headunit. I bought it off of eBay from a good seller. And the unit is cable tied upto the top of the little cubby hold and has turned out quite nice and strong.

Great stuff. It looks well fitted so obviously the cable ties are doing their job. So I assume the equaliser simply alters/amplifies the signal being sent to the Speakers as opposed to affecting the original signal? I'm guessing it sits in the circuit between the head unit and the Speakers but if you could show how it's wired/fitted that'd be great.

I'd never considered using an equaliser/amplifier before but it seems like an ideal way to increase the volume and improve the sound quality without having to change the head unit. Combining the Amp/Equaliser with some upgraded Speakers should provide some really good results.

Have you fitted a sub/amp into your car? If so do you know if u need an RCA adapter for the back of the stereo and if so where they are available from (although I'll check Flea-Bay and might find one on there)

Thanks for all the help

If so do you know if u need an RCA adapter for the back of the stereo. Comes on the equaliser, though before the equaliser I did use an adapter. The equaliser has subwoofer volume controls and a cutoff switch, also it is separate from the fader controls so you can fade as much as you want and the subwoofer will stay at your setting.

Damn, wish I'd checked this thread earlier. :censor: I've just bought a Boss AVA-1404 equaliser off E-Bay. Not to worry tho. Thanks for the offer. Hopefully will be installing it next week as I have some time off work. I'll let you know how it goes

And big thanks to BadBoyVTEC for all the help regarding installation etc
