Pick up a black 55 plate 19 mile t sport tomorrow

The Toyota dealer I'm getting it from says it doesn't need running in ... I beg to differ

Any comments?

Cheers.

Forgot to say .... forget the engine; jap tolernaces are so close there isn't any need to worry. Not my first Toyota. But what about brakes, suspension, etc?

Running the car in is up to you, if you read the handbook it says to run it in for 500-600 miles. It's all to do with fuel economy (or so they say).

Don't see what difference it makes.

My car had done only 200 miles before I started reving the nuts off it.

When i got my MR2 i was told it didn't need "running in".. but was advised to take it easy, and not to go over 4000 rpm for the first 1000 miles.. after that, the car loosen off a little (gearbox etc) and the performance would be what is expected of it.

Well, I've got it and I'm loving it!

Done about 300 miles in it now, but haven't yet pushed it too hard yet. I stuck to 4k for the first few hundred miles (had to - the brakes were dreadful for the first 100) but now I've started introducing 5k "spurts". And spurt is good word to describe this thing! The way it comes out of corners amazed me on the way home tonight!

It hasn't missed a beat, but it is covered in flies! The warm weather this weekend saw to that!

I'm finding that it's got much more mid range than I was expecting. The brakes are bedding in nicely now, too. Build quality appears first rate (I wouldn't expect anything less from Toyota), and the metallic black paint looks amazing when it's in the sun :D

The ride is fairly hard, but the only drawback to that is that I can hear my keys jangling B)

The dealer has been good, but I've only picked up the car so far. They did service it for me (for free) before I collected it though. They also stuck one of their dealer stickers in the back window which I now have to remove

I can't wait to see what the next few hundred miles will be like!
