Followed all the instructions in the guide and have been left with a fitted headunit but with unsightly gaps.

Any ideas on how to make it a better fit?

definatly not fitted right, just looked at mine and there's no gaps,

just have to fiddle about with it until it's right, it's a while since I did mine so i'm not quite sure what I did

We checked and double checked and then checked again that it was fitted correctly and we're pretty sure it is! We fastened the 2 screws up behind the white bit and then the 1 behind the ashtray and it just doesn't sit right at all!

We thought it might just be a phase 2 thing but you say yours sits right and yours is a phase 2! :(

Did you snap the legs off on the inside of the bit from Halfords?

yes, isn't there just 2 legs that you use. havn't used the wrong ones?

now I come to think of it, i'm sure I glued the Halfords bit (the din unit) to the fascia surround.

if you pull it does the gap decrease, if so all I can suggest is use some glue, hot melt glues the best

the bottom half of the tray should stick out further,

havn't got the digicam at the moment so can't take a pic of mine

My P2 also had gaps around like yours.I glued two small washers behind the legs of the radio surround which has now positioned it with no gaps. B)

 I Thought i was the only one who had that problem! I fitted my headunit about nearly a year ago now :P And i just left it because I couldnt be bothered to sort it out anymore after a long WEEK of fitting my Headunit and 6x9's (including making the shelf etc) It was the first time I fitted something to my car, so i just really couldnt be bothered no more :P

So your telling me to just glue it together? What about the Washers? Could you explain in more info Coo? Please B)

The washer thing sounds like an idea, we'll probably give it a go! How thick were the washers if you can remember coo?

put my headunit into my new car this afternoon, it was a nightmare compared to my 1.3, nothing seemed to fit right.

still a slight gap but got it there in the end.

is there any difference between the t-sport and the blue, because it just seemed not to want to go.

It's tricky stuff, pretty much the same though I think!

The washers I used were just a standard thickness, think 8mm bore,I used super-glue to fix them to each other first, let the glue dry for a few minutes then glued them to the back of the mounting lugs.Make sure you fix to the lower of the two holes as the top one is for the location dowel.Only did this to the top two mounts and now fits nicely.

Hope this helps

Coo
