Safety Camera Locations On Rav4 Satnav

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi everyone, new today!

Took derlivery of a new Rav4 XT5 10 days ago and still finding my way around the sat nav / hands free etc!

Does anyone know if the positions of 'safety cameras' in the UK can be added in any way (POI's?) to the sat nav in the XT5.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you.

Welcome to TOC Ironhead :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I beleive the new Sat Nav is CD/DVD based. Unless there is some where to upload via memory stick or other I dont think your be able to. Most othe POI based updates including the Safety Cameras are updated into the main memory details. My TomTom 5 is on a 1gb memory card. (you used to be able to download this free from Total GPS but now they charge you £2 a go for the safety camera db, but it is the most upto date and accurate there is)

Hope this helps in some way

Thanks Chatman & Bob King.

I thought I might be able to download the camera stuff to my computer, copy the Satnav dvd to my computer and then write a new dvd with everything on it?

Do't know if it would work though.

Thank you. Ironhead.

The updates depend on what type of operating system the Sat Nav can use. My TomTom 5 uses .ov2 files with bmp images. The other systems use either .csv or .asc files. Unsure if the Toyota version will be able to handle these, I beleive it may use Teleatlas maps as most of the big systems do I.E TomTom, Garmin etc.

Give this site a try. They have a good forum that might be able to help out on what your trying to acheive..
