Sort Out The Roll...

Hey there, long time since being on here but you all helped me out with my old yaris, heres hoping you can do the same with my new one!!

I treated myself to a new Yaris in December, a 1.3 colour collection silver, with everything on so thats its the same as a T spirit (had a good deal from Mr. T!)

I've got my new alpine headunit and iPod in and soundin pukka, but now really need to sort out all the roll in the corners. The car is a great little drive much better than my old 1.0 gs, but the roll is starting to bug me a bit.

Have heard that TTE springs help, but can't find them anywhere, am I just being stupid??

Thanks in advance

TTE springs - talk to Envy, local Toyota Dealer, and they pop up on eBay from time to time.

My mind has just gone very blank, but you've got "torsion" bars for the rear and front of the car you can buy too.

Yeah strut bars or anti roll bars for handling aswell as shocks and springs (or even better, coileys) TTE's aren't the best but are good for lowering it a bit. Not sure how much harder they are than standard (They are shorter but may still be bouncy). Coilovers are obviously the best solution but most expensive. All depends on how much it bothers you and whether you want track handling or fast road etc!

I would say that when it comes to cars i don't know all that much, especially about thinks like the suspension etc. It's just that the car seems to roll around into corners too much. I drive down to Pembrokeshire quiet a lot, and the drive down the b roads is great fun, but have to be a bit carefull going into corners. I just want to firm things up a bit, not for racing or track use, just to enjoy the old bendies a bit more.

Any advice is greatly recieved

p.s have no idea how much i need to spend so ideas would be helpful!!

There is no amount you need to spend but what would you like to pay and what would be your maximum? That way we can advise on them in order of making an overall better handling car. It may be worthwhile buying lots of smaller things rather than coilovers then if you dont want track handling. Strut braces front then rear are usually advised (about £50 for front upper and £30 for rear upper) Springs wise, Tein's are usually recommeneded as the best as they balance the car (lower the rear more then front unlike any other springs on market for yaris) But other makes are still good. TTE's springs are just rebadged Eibach (i think) so still quality. The Tein's are around £140 i think and TTE's can be picked up on eBay for usually around £40 odd. Others out there include gmax springs that lower 40mm. Imo these are more for peeps that like there cars slammed for cheap rather than a suspension upgrade but just my opinion. Springs and braces should be enough for a basic improvement for cheap. If you were to buy the strut braces used you could get both front and rear for around £50, then could get eBay springs for around £40, throw in postage and your looking at about £100. Buying it all brand new i reckon you could get under £200 if you shop around.

hope that was of some help and others will offer more advice no doubt :)

It is helpful, thanks. Was thinkin of going to about 250 max at the moment, but if i can sort it out for less then all the better!!

I'm not really looking to lower the car loads, quite happy with the way it looks, but just want to get the handling sorted.

Would I be best starting with the braces or the springs? If the braces, where and which ones?

Sorry to be a pain, but I really want to sort this out and you guys have been the best help so far, don't waste your time trying to ask Mr. T!! they think that the car is fine!!

Cheers

i've got a set of Tein springs for sale if your interested £115 inc P&P, just took them off the car today, only covered about 3500 Miles

They Lower By 38mm at the rear and 35mm at the front, they're much better than the TTE springs.

You would also be looking at £60-£140 for fitting and wheel alignment, depending on where you go.

The Tein springs are excellent - and thats a good buy.

You can get a front upper and rear upper brace by OMP from www.strutbracer.co.uk - loads of people have them on here.

I was considering getting strut brace for my Yaris but how do they work? I like my boot space so i don't think i'd get a rear one, thats where it goes right? But you can just use one in the front?
