Insurance Refund

Received a letter from my Insurance company (More Than) the other day. The letter advised that due to a change in my details they had issued a new certificate and are sending me a refund of £14 !

I checked the details and the 'new' certificate was identical to my original one.

Out of curiosity I called them and asked what had changed. The guy I spoke to went through all my vehicle details and my personal details and agreed that nothing had changed and couldn't understand why I had been sent the refund.

So off he went to speak to a supervisor and eventually came back to tell me that due to a newly introduced policy all Hybrid cars had been given an extra discount. !

Not very often you get money back off the insurance companies. !!!!!!

Yes, I heard that "More Than" want to be associated with environmentally friendly motoring and would be encouraging hybrid and other eco vehicle owners to look to them as the eco-insurer. Its good PR but also good for us. I got quotes from them in anticipation of acquiring my Prius in September and they were the 4th best of 20 quotations through www.confused.com (..another great service) and will definitely be insuring with them when the time comes.

Happy motoring.

Guys,

If you sign up to quidco you get cashback from More Than of £75 (which confused would have got if you used them). I find Privilege the cheapest, they used to pay £70 cashback but now it's £60.

Quidco is free to sign up for and they charge £5 per year (taken from what you earn) I earn £100's a year with house insurance, car insurance, CD's, DVD's etc.!

You can see what people say about them on moneysavingexpert.com or hotukdeals.com

(08 T-Spirit on order)

When I changed from a Toyata Avensis to the Prius T-spirit "More Than" increased my premium by £16. I think I will give them a ring.

I have just rung "More Than" and after speaking to a supervisor the chap tells me I was given the discount and the extra premium of £16 would have been even more if my car was not a hybrid? It was also pointed out that the premium is based on your post code etc.

Good if you can get a refund but it seems it is not for everybody.
