Servicing Experience At Inchcape Toyota Derby !

Took my Avensis in for a 10K service.

Drove home - no problems.

The next day, as a long journey was to be undertaken, just thought I'd check all was well.

What do I find?

The oil filler cap not screwed into the engine cover - just sitting on top of the engine - god knows how it didn't fall onto the road, or why the engine didn't spew oil all over the inside of the bonnet.

Engine oil level way overfilled (still is). Good job it's not a diesel - that can kill it (does with GM diesels).

Brake and clutch fluid pots full to the brim with wet fluid all around them - had to dry the areas.

From now on, I'll take it to my local independent garage who has done a good job in the past on other cars for me. His livelihood depends on happy customers and repeat business.

I'm not even going to contact Inchcape - can't be bothered with the lip service about 'excellent customer service' blah blah blah. Might sound defeatest, but I had a couple of issues when I bought the car which took an age to sort, and I don't need the aggro again.

So I'm voting with my feet instead, and also they've just lost a sale as my wife was after a brand new Corolla. Thing is they won't even notice, big garage, lots of lease/company cars to service......

I'm not Victor Meldrew, I just expect the job to be done properly.....

Just thought I'd share my personal experience...... hope you all have better experiences with your servicing.....

Inchcape lost the franchise here although I had no trouble with their service etc. I do not blame you for using another garage. I would tell Toyota customer care of your experiece otherwise nothing will be put right at Inchcape Derby.

I would certainly bring the oil overfill to their attention as there is a possibility that this could cause a future problem with the car.

I appreciate your very annoyed with them. But only by raising the issue can they be aware of the poor workmanship (technicians work, under which their brand name stands).

Through feedback such as this hopefully they are able to rectify the problem and improve the service for future customers/TOC members ;)

Yes, you need to tell them. Mine is due in 300 miles time, was going to take it to Derby, but not sure now...

  • 3 weeks later...

Went to Inchcape Derby as I'm in the market for a new company car. My employer uses contract hire and we are able to nominate the local supplying dealer. Inchcape Derby didn't want to know, couldn't even get a brochure or any info on the re-vamped Avensis out of them. Dreadful performance, there is no way I would trust any outfit that allows that kind of attitude to prevail. :nono:

Shoto,

You should report your experience to Toyota customer care ASAP. Sounds as if Inchcape Derby want sorting out. My local dealer changed from Inchcape I do not know why they lost the franchise.
