Fuel Pump Problem

Recommended Posts

For some reason the fuel pump on my GT4 ST205 is not firing up correctly. I've got round it by jumping two pins in the diagnostic port which is just under the windscreen under the bonnet on the right hand side as you look at from the front of the car.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, the fix wirks fine, but I would really like to get it sorted.

Thanks in advance.

Assuming you`ve checked everything else such as FPR, Fuel filter etc and also assuming it`s the same set up as the 185 there should be Fuel pump relay. Lives on the firewall on the 185 and a finned alloy rectifier/regulator lurking around somewhere. Mine was under the Battery tray. Might be worth checking those out.

there is also a fuel pump resistor on the Battery tray (underneath)

it has two wires and is about the size of a pack of fags with fins. these have been known to fail

Brilliant thanks, I'll check this out tomorrow, however without sounding really stupid, how do I know whether the fuel pump resistor has failed, do I just remove it and short it out? Sorry for sounding so thick all I know is that these are b###y great cars and I drive them. :)

Forgot this sorry, if I need a new fuel pump resistor where can I get one from?

Resistors can be checked with an Ohmeter. Not sure what the values should be though. You should be able to get 2nd hand ones from somewhere like TCB CLICKY
